Re: Nintendo Wii
Despite reviews to the contrary, WiiPlay kicks ass. (Plus, it comes with a controller for only about $10 more than what the controller sells for, so it's essentially a $10 game.)
My only real complaint about the Wii: now that it's out, GameCube games are going out-of-print like hotcakes. And they're winding up on eBay for grossly inflated prices. You can't tell me that the "Player's Choice" edition of "Legend of Zelda: The Wind Walker" is "super rare," because I saw hundreds of copies gathering dust at various stores (mostly Target) in the past few years. (Shame I never bought it, eh?)
Also, they're putting out the old games for download on an odd schedule. I think they have more TurboGrafX games than NES, and who the hell wants any of those? Plus weird shit, like Super Contra and Gradius III are out, but not Contra, Gradius, or Life Force (AKA Gradius II).

Re: Nintendo Wii
Shooting Range (essentially an update of Duck Hunt)
Find the Mii (sort of "Where's Waldo" -- a lot more fun than it sounds)
Billiards
Cow Race (seriously)
Tanks (sort of like Combat on the old Atari 2600)
Laser Hockey (like a more complex Pong)
Fishing (cool, but a little on the easy side)
A game I can't remember that involves switching poses and rotating the Mii
They're all set up as sort of tutorials in using the Wiimote, but a few of them (especially Find the Mii, Shooting Range, Billiards, and Cow Race) are a lot of fun to play over and over.

Re: Nintendo Wii
My Wii # is 7560 1720 7233 2831.
I finally found it.
By accident.
If you want my Miis to visit your Miis.
Or vice versa.
Or whatever.

I am not online yet, and probably won't be for a few months, but I'll do whatever is necessary to make our Miis visit one another.
We've since added George Harrison, Dick Cheney, Angelina Jolie, an immensely ugly anonymous woman named "Fuggles," and a really poorly-done Eric Cartman.

Re: Nintendo Wii
I'm trying to justify buying one to myself. It might be the family christmas gift this year. I've been holding off on buying Zelda for the Gamecube because of it.Zero wrote:And that gives the rest of you hosers time to go out and invest in a Wii!!!
Have they announced a Wii version of Animal Crossing yet?

Re: Nintendo Wii
I saw 'em once in Best Buy in May. There were six. I rushed home to get the BB certificates (we had like $150, since we'd been saving them for a Wii), and they were gone by the time I got back. Luckily, I asked, and there was another case in back.
I saw them a month ago in Costco, and a couple this weekend at the same Best Buy as before.
They're tougher to find than Ephant Mon.
If you want one and have Costco membership, and are patient, Costco tends to pack all sorts of goodies in for practically nothing. I had to have one in May, or I would've waited for Costco.

Re: Nintendo Wii
Oddly enough, Jodi just popped out that she wanted to buy one for the kids for Christmas (honest, I didn't even suggest it - I still want a PS3 when the price comes down another 3 notches or so).
Luckily, Wii found one in stock. I bought the following:
System
Wii Play (with extra remote included)
2nd Nunchuk
I'm thinking of getting Splinter Cell 3 for myself, it's cheaper for Wii than for PS2 by $10.
Questions:
Is Mario Galaxy going to be the next gen Super Mario type game or is it something else?
How much is available on for download wrt the classic games?
Once you dl a game, is it yours to keep?

Re: Nintendo Wii
1. Yes, Galaxy is in the same vein as SuperMario64 and SuperMarioSunshine.
2. Here's a list. They add new games every Monday. 1 pt is worth a cent, so 500 pt. games cost you $5.00 to download, etc. Not sure on Canadian exchange rate. I hear your dollar is going to surpass ours very soon, but that prices in the stores haven't caught up to that particular trend yet. So you guys are paying more than you should on EVERYTHING.
3. Once you download it, it's yours. But there is is only so much space on the Wii's drive, so you can only have a certain amount of games on the system ( don't worry it's a ridiculously high number) at any one moment. But if you buy a game a remove it from the system, you can redownload it for free(since you already paid for it once).
I just checked, there's 48 slots. One of these is for the actual Wii/GameCube game in the system, then if you download the free things like Weather Channel, News Channel, Internet Channel, Everybody Votes Channel, etc those each take up a slot, but everything else is for downloaded games.
I keep meaning to download MarioKart64, but i haven't bought any points in awhile. I downloaded the original Castlevania and Metroid for nostalgia, and immediately got frustrated with them. Hee hee. I want Dr. Mario. Thats a fun time waster.
Wii Console # 7560 1720 7233 2831 if you ever get around to making Miis and want to send them out as spies! ( or whatever they do)

Re: Nintendo Wii
Okay, as soon as we get ours up and running (my PS2 is online, so I'm assuming it's an unplug/replug operation to get my Wii on) I'll get my number and we can all geek out together.

Re: Nintendo Wii
Well, not anarky. That fool ain't online with his Wii!
For fun, I dug out some old GC games and was playing them on the Wii. Medal of Honor! I looove killing me some Nazis! I turned on the cheats and made myself invincible and made bullets into Star Trek photon torpedos. Good times.
