Re: Nintendo Wii
I am 6'1 and weigh about 180 but everyone always tells me I look like I need to get some weight on me lol
There's plenty of me to go around
That whole BMI thing is largely PURE bullshit, there's literally hundreds if not millions of things that can make a huge difference
Hell I haven't even bothered to weigh myself in a couple years but the way my clothes fit etc I would bet anything that I would come up between 175 and 185 no matter what

Re: Nintendo Wii
It's based on the faulty assumption that everyone is all fat and little or no muscle. That's true for a good number of people, but not everyone by a long shot. And muscle is several times more dense than fat. So, while I'm (according to Wii Fit, anyway) just barely below the "overweight" category, I figure it must be mostly muscle. I'm not muscular by any stretch of the definition, but I don't have very much fat, either, so that weight has to be coming from something. Hopefully it's not a 20-pound tumor in my gut that I'm not aware of.

Re: Nintendo Wii
The BMI has me in the dangerously obese category. I know I'm a little hefty, but come on!!!!
Seriously though - it's made for people with no muscle or bone mass whatsoever. Barry Sanders, at 5'8" and 210 lbs (or thereabouts) would have been in the same category, and he was pure muscle.
You jokers should all be excited to hear that my kids managed to save their portion of the funds for a Wii so I bought it today. I won't be hooked up until some time Friday, but I'll put the code out there as soon as I know it.

Can someone explain to me how to find the password for my wireless connection? I can't find the device in control panel to look at or alter... is there somewhere else???

Re: Nintendo Wii
generally, it's accessed through a web browser. go to a computer wired into your router and type in 192.168.1.1 - that will probably get you a login prompt. on linksys routers, i think the default login is blank and password is admin. netgear i think it's ADMIN/PASSWORD. if you still have your box/docs for the router you've got, consult there.jjreason wrote:Can someone explain to me how to find the password for my wireless connection? once you get into the router, you generally are presented with a website that allows you to access/edit settings. look for "wireless" or something equivalent in the navigation. if you don't currently have any wireless computers hooking up to your router, your wireless is most likely turned off. you'll have to turn it on. you have to give your network a name - called an "ssid" - to differentiate it from others in the area. to enable encryption, you'll have to choose an encryption type. i'm not sure what the wii uses, but i have my router on WEP encryption, which is the base-level of encryption. you can leave your network open, but people can use it. to me, that's the main concern - i'm not worried about a hakurz sitting in a van across the street looking for files on my computer. on the outset, use WEP encryption and uncheck (or whatever) "ssid broadcast" - this means that your ssid won't be shown in "available local networks". my theory is, if they can't see it, they don't know it's there to hack into. most likely if they feel industrious, they'll find it - but what's the probability of someone running a program that scours the airwaves for non-broadcasted network names in enough of a radius to detect mine?
what a digression... anyway, you set up a WEP key and use that on the wii. should be set from there.

Re: Nintendo Wii
Thanks, Vyn, for all the help. I managed to short cut all that by finding a scrap of paper in the Linksys box that had my password on it.
I'm going to try and add you nerds as friends tonight.... how do I get the number for you guys to add me?

- 1. GO TO MESSAGE SCREEN (ENVELOPE ICON IN LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER OF MAIN SCREEN)
2. GO TO CREATE MESSAGE (PAD & PENCIL ICON IN LOWER LEFT CORNER)
3. GO TO ADDRESS BOOK ON RIGHT SIDE OF SCREEN.
4. WRITE DOWN YOUR CONSOLE NUMBER AND ADD OTHERS.

Re: Nintendo Wii
I've made a complete list of this site's users for quick reference (and have added you all in my address book):
EP = 7560 1720 7233 2831
R2 = 5811 8188 9628 1277
Vyn = 3428 6501 5535 1840
Chux = 6785 7712 1518 3540
JJ = 0477 1747 7251 4478
Add me, bitches!
EDITED: Another thought - for the Wii's to start showing up do we have to be Wii friends, or is having you in the addy book good enough? If we need to be friends, how does that work? Do I need to get the Internet Channel and go to the message boards or something?

Re: Nintendo Wii
My kids have made pretty much our whole extended family - I'm sure they'll be showing up at your place as well.
I bought 2000 Wii points and got Super Mario 3 - I never finished that damned thing in the old days but it wasn't for a lack of trying. I'm thinking of adding the internet channel - but is it really worth it? Are there any sites/boards that I can't access normally through the PC?

Re: Nintendo Wii
the miis migrate as soon as you add the number to your address book, as that's when you are wii friends.jjreason wrote:EDITED: Another thought - for the Wii's to start showing up do we have to be Wii friends, or is having you in the addy book good enough? we got a 2k card and DL'd super mario bros, super mario bros 3, metroid and castlevania 2. freakin' sweet!jjreason wrote:I bought 2000 Wii points and got Super Mario 3 - I never finished that damned thing in the old days but it wasn't for a lack of trying.
i didn't get the 'net channel, i don't think it's worth it. if it were free, maybe i'd grab it, but i have four computers around the house that i can jump onto the 'net on, so to pay for a modified version of opera browser and have to type with the wiimote... meh.I'm thinking of adding the internet channel - but is it really worth it? channels to get:

Re: Nintendo Wii
I saw the Everybody Votes but wrote it off as political info and left it alone. If it's general discussion I'll DL it.

Re: Nintendo Wii
yeah, no, it's generally not political as it's world-wide. it's stuff like "are you left-handed or right-handed?" and "do you spit gum out or do you swallow it?"jjreason wrote:I saw the Everybody Votes but wrote it off as political info and left it alone. If it's general discussion I'll DL it.
