I read how much you liked 60 - I meant the 61. How was the first issue with the new team?

Ah, I see.
Punisher #61 comes out this coming Wednesday. I still haven't gotten around to reading the preview yet.

Punisher #61 was the only thing waiting for me this week.
I was almost expecting a failure of Astonishing X-Men #25 proportions, but much to my surprise, it wasn't bad. The Ennis feeling is gone and it almost feels like it should have been a new issue #1 (with a semi-recap and family mentions). The new storyline is set up pretty well with the writer doing a good job of "getting" Frank and the art is appropriately dark and gritty.
It was enough to keep me reading for a while and see how things pan out. So far so good.

In that case I can add Watchmen to the list. I only ordered the sumbitch a month ago.
I ain't ordering from border.com again unless they ship it the bastard immediately or I get an insanely awesome price for something I don't waiting for.

Damnation! I ordered Church & State from Amazon just under two weeks ago, but it said it was out of stock and they didn't have an estimated ship date for it. I'm happy to have it this quickly. Now I can read the long stretch of subsequent volumes I've gotten at Comic-Con. (For series I want, I grab anything I can get half off. Except this year, when there were about 20 volumes of Cerebus and I couldn't afford it and got the earlier ones I was missing. And forgot to keep a list, and picked up two copies of Minds. Hopefully I can trade it or sell it without too great a loss.)

If we're counting recent orders, though I don't have them (and some I won't have until probably April), I've recently ordered:

Sandman Vol 2: A Doll's House
Transformers: Revelation
Transformers Spotlight Vol 3
Transformers: All Hail Megatron, Vol 1
Classic GIJoe Vol 1
Classic GIJoe Vol 2

(Yeah, I've got all the original books for the last two, but now I'll have a handy reading copy, and my wife can read them. She has some interest in comics, but pretty much only reads stuff I highly recommend. Except for Dreamwave's first Transformers series, which she enjoyed, though probably because she didn't realize the "writer" had absolutely zero handle on the characters.)

Anyone still reading? Seems like we're in the comic duldrums around here. I haven't picked mine up for 2 weeks, but no posts here for so long is a bad sign.

Wow, I can actually add to this thread. The only comic I have been reading lately is Star Wars Rebellion. Well, I slacked off a bit from that too and went to the comic book store yesterday. Got SW Rebellion 13, 14, 15, 16 and already finished them :(

I also got my first Joe comic pack the other day, Trip Wire and CC, and read that comic.

I miss buying comics, I used to have my own box long ago at the local shop I read so many different titles. I just can't seem to get into much of them any longer. I would LOVE it if they put a big G.I. Joe omnibus type trade paperbacks together, like they did with the old Marvel Star Wars comics. I'd love to read those still!

You're in luck - they're re-releasing the old GI Joe Marvel comics in Trade Paperback format - Target.com I think I read had them, somewhere around 10-12 issues in each volume.

EDITED: Here's the amazon blurb anyhow.

The stuff I've seen of the new GIJoe comic looks promising, too. Larry Hama writing, the classic characters and costumes, set in a new continuity in the modern day, a scaled-back Joe team... and, most importantly NO restraints from Hasbro. Meaning if Hama wanted to kill off Destro in issue #1, he could (though I seriously doubt he would, since I always got the impression he saw Destro as a far more interesting character to write than Cobra Commander himself).

Thanks Reason, that made my day! I guess the ol' adage, "Ask and ye shall receive" came true in this case :mabs:

I see that there will be THREE G.I.Joe comics from IDW next year. GIJOE by Chuck Dixon, GIJOE:Origins by Hama himself, and GIJOE:Cobra by Christos Gage. Color me rambunctious!

And what issue is All Hail Megatron on? I got the first one, but that seemed like forever ago. I'll be pissed if they haven't been throwing it in my pull box at the LCS.

Last Week:

Marvel Apes #1 - Of course they wouldn't do the smart thing and go straight for a Marvel Monkey-verse. It just had to involve a character rooted in the 616. And the monkeyfied versions of the heroes on the cover don't match the version on the inside.

The Boys #22 - The conclusion of the origin of The Boys, in which only a small amount was revealed. I suppose I should feel annoyed, but its so well written, I don't.

Punisher War Journal #23 - Quite possibly the gayest Punisher comic ever, literally. Jigsaw keeps proclaiming his love for Frank and Frank is too much of a pussy to kill him. Frank the surrenders to SHIELD and someone else shoots Jigsaw dead. ZZZzzz...

This week:

Secret Invasion #6 - A lot of shit happens, yet very little happens plot-wise. I swear to God Michael Bay is behind this.

NYX: No Way Home #2 - Quite a different artistic shift since issue #1, yet its the same artist. In the first issue it looked very close to the artist of the first NYX mini, but issue #2 looks like it came from someone that belongs to the same family of art, but you wouldn't think is the same artist as issue #1 (if that makes any sense). The issue was good also.

Criminal 2 #5 - Part 2 of the new arc. I swear this is the comic I have to read the moment I get home (now that Ennis is done with The Punisher). So good, so different than almost anything else.
