Anyone else find it odd that The Rock (who is mixed Samoan and black, and light-skinned enough that I had to look up whether he'd ever had any black ancestors and not just a tanning bed) is, in two of his next movies, playing Charley Pride and Roadblock, who are almost entirely defined by their blackness?
If Michael Clarke Duncan, who played a fucking amazing Kingpin, was complained about incessantly only because he's black and the comic book character is white, there'd better be some serious nerd rage about The Rock as Roadblock when this becomes more widely known.

Yes, kind of. The Rock is probably about as big as a name they could get for the movie. Then I tried to figure out what other role they would have him play without being obscure and came up blank.
I saw the announcement on Hisstank. Never read anything more about it. I don't read anything about the movie there. I did once, and it reminded me of discussions of the Prequels. The only reason I go there is to read about what toys are hitting and where. (and I still haven't seen a Windcharger).
At some point a long time ago I remember we were throwing out names of celebrities that could play characers in a GI Joe movie. It was well before the actual movie was even announced. The only wrestler I recall mentioning was Stone Cold Steve Austin as Gung Ho. Someone threw out Jeff Foxworthy as Wild Bill. Can't remember the rest. I can't even remember if it was here or another site.

It was at an offshoot of another site when Action Online's Romulans took over.
I was the one who suggested Foxworthy as Wild Bill, though he'd be too old now. I love the character, but he's so ridiculous I don't think they could play him entirely straight. I usually can't stand Foxworthy, but imagine him (younger) with shades and a cowboy hat, and he's Wild Bill to a tee.

Wow. I forgot all about that. That had to be 5-6 years ago. I would like to see who we came up with.
Even with The Rock being in it, it isn't a film I will probably ever see.

Imagine the uproar if Donald Glover had actually been seriously considered for Spider-man.

You ever find it odd that liberals are stupid? It's like they're a whole different species. We should round them up and put them in special enclaves where they are totally separated from the rest of us. I hate fucking liberal nazis.
