How I realized I was over Star Wars completely

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

I'm not racist (no, really, I'm not). And I don't have a problem with a black dude as a Stormtrooper. And I'm not about to defend racists (except to say they have a right to be racist whether I like it or not). I figure y'all know that, but I should throw it out in case I'm running for President in the future and someone looks here to find stuff to discredit me (and misses everything but this post).

However, I can see how someone can say there shouldn't be black Stormtroopers and not be racist. Because it was explicitly stated over and over that the Emperor and the imperial bureaucracy were sexist and speciesist (is that the word?), and heavily implied they were racist as well.

Granted, the Prequels showed Palpatine's right-hand man was a Twi'lek-looking motherfucker with horns, and his other crony was an alien woman (bald, of course), and subsequent EU said Panaka became a Moff because some fucktard wasn't creative and thought that was a good idea, and now the EU's out entirely, so who the fuck knows what's up with Palpatine and his views on race in the DU (Disney Universe).

I haven't read any plot spoilers, but it'll be interesting to see why Bodega's character is a Trooper. Is he a conscript? Is he a volunteer? And if he is, that means he legitimately feels like the Empire is the better choice. And will there be actual political discourse wedged amongst the space battles and speeder chases and lightsaber duels between him and Ridley's Solo character?

I think we'll find out he was in disguise, not a legitimate trooper.

I can't believe that it took me this long (3 days) to realize that the Falcon had a new antenna because Lando lost the other one. Kinda neat now that I'm thinking of it.

It has a new antenna?

No, really, I keep hearing everyone commenting on that, but didn't notice it at all.

That's not the Falcon.

It's clearly the Bicentennial Osprey.

In those 'leaked' production concepts a while back there's a smaller ship almost identical to the Falcon called 'Carousel'. It's about 50% smaller, has the same shape but fewer hull panels. The new x-wings are smaller too. I'd guess it's to make ships seem more nimble and the aerobatics more impressive.

of all the production concept stuff on the net the one I like most is the downed and rusting wreck of an AT-AT on Tatooine where the belly of it is used as a hangar for a ship. Though given how unstable Imperial AT vehicles are on less solid ground I can't imagine them being even slightly effective on shifting sands. Snow and ice compacts under pressure but sand just moves. Still, the wreck of an AT-AT is a nice symbol of a fragile empire.
I have never read any of your posts, but from what I can learn I should say that for people who like the kind of posts you deliver, they are just the kind of posts such people like.

Holy shit, I had forgotten all about that! I barely even remembered the show.

Curiously, though, the "Han Jabba" joke was the first thing I remembered.
