What have you watched lately?

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Mad Max: Fury Road - Impressive 2 hour action scene. Too bad there wasn't anything else to it.

Friday - You ain't got no job and you ain't got shit to do.

I didn't say it was bad. I think I just expected more. It's worth seeing just for the insane action alone.

Also, impressive work for a 70-year-old director.

And the director of Babe, Happy Feet and Happy Feet 2. They totally should have used that in the marketing.

Last week I picked up a cheap Blu-Ray of a zombie flick called Deadgirl from 2008. Kinda fucked up. Low budget with actors that you'll probably never see again. Two fucked up outsider high school kids that look 25 explore an abandoned mental hospital and come across a hot, dead zombie chick strapped naked to a gurney. The more fucked up of the two kids gets obsessed with her and does exactly what you think he'd do to a hot naked zombie. And he apparently goes bareback.

I recently picked up all 6 Rocky flicks on Blu-Ray for $25. Last night I watched Rocky. Not a great flick - it has not held up well.
Rocky is a stalker who can't walk down the street without air punching and comes dangerously close to sexual assault. Paulie is a drunken prick that lives to mentally beat down Adrian and cash in on Rocky's life. Adrian has a severe case of social anxiety disorder, but this was 1976, so she was just "shy." Mick is an asshole that only wants to cash in on Rocky. The only likable character is Apollo Creed because he puts everything up front - he knows the fight is a gimmick and revels in it.

Today I went as saw Tomorrowland. I have no idea why its been getting such mixed reviews - I loved it. A fun, original adventure/mystery with two strong, young female characters. In the end the message is a bit too heavy handed, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

All I've watched recently are snippets of the anime my partner has taken to watching. Baffling. As far as I can tell it appears to be the art of four frames of animation a minute with squeaky Japanese voices waffling about gods and monsters and endless pseudo references to nuclear holocaust and losing one's virginity. Some of the background art is nice...

Watched over the past week or so. In no particular order.

Monty Python's Life of Brian
Spaceballs
Rio Bravo
Waterworld
Master & Commander
Man on the Moon
Jurassic Park

All of those that I have seen, I would consider classics.

Including Waterworld. Fuck the haters. It's not perfect and the science is iffy, but it's far from a bad movie.

Had the misfortune of watching most of LittleMan the other day. I felt a hate crime coming on. Thankfully Hollywood wised up and cut the Wayons off from further funding.

Also watched San Andreas. It's not gonna win My awards, but it was a decent disaster flick. And you should watch it for Daddario's lovely tatas alone. Her first scene is her in the skimpiest black bikini ever. And the rest of the movie has her in a skimpy tank top that accentuates her assets. I saw it in IMAX 3D and when she's running...damn.

It's frustrating to watch old episodes of In Living Color and the classic I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, then see what the Wayans wound up doing. :(

What ever happened to the white guy on In Living Color? He was poised for superstardom.

Batman vs Robin - Horrible, even considering the source material. Bad voice acting and a piss-poor script.

Rocky II - picks up immediately after Rocky and details Rocky's downslide after "retirement." Turns out Rocky is barely literate and not equipped to do anything other than manual labor, so naturally he has a rematch with Creed.
