I'll get to my usual reviews later, but I just had to post quickly. In the back of Avengers 19 (and maybe other issues, I haven't got that far) there's a backup story about two elves and I shit you not one of them is named Lanny! ROLFF.

I got 15 books because (whoops) I bought two copies of New Mutants 34.
Amazing Spidey 674. As NYC cleans up after SpiderIsland, the Vulture returns.

Atomic Robo: Ghost of Station X 3. Hey, it's Atomic Robo. You know it's awesome. Unless you don't read it, in which case fuck off you loser tampon string.

Avengers 19. Cap picks a new team that includes first time Avengers Storm and Daisy Johnson.

Avengers Academy 22. Scott, Emma, and Magneto guest star as Mags assists Pym in trying to find who killed Jocasta. Naturally, there everybody gets into a huge fight.

Captain America 4. Apparently Ed Brubaker just got around to seeing The Matrix and decided it'd make a cool Cap story.

Fear Itself 7.3 The Iron Man issue deals with Tony and Odin and all the dead people of Paris. Short version is Oding gives Tony a sliver of "god power" and he resurrects all the Parisians.

GIJoe ARAH 172. FUUUUUUUUCK. FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK FUCK. :frus: Somebody dies. Somebody I like.

Snake Eyes 7. Vargas explains there's no cure. Oh happy day! Oh, I'm sure Duke will find a way out of this, so that's really more of a cocktease han anything. But I can still hope.

Hulk 637 2. Dr. Banner is batshit crazy. Seriously. Marc Silvestri's art is good though. Especially his Bikini wearing Betty Banner.

New Mutants 34. The team is looking for Blink. Not the Age of Apocalypse/Exiles version, but the "I died during Phalanx Covenant and got resurrected during Necrosha" version. Oh, and I bought two copies.

Marvel Index 4. So I discovered there was a Wolverine 102.5 that I didn't know existed. Add that to my list.

Punisher 5. A good story about a little boy who's parents are both serving overseas stumbles into Frank's hideout.

The Stand: The Night Has Come 4. Trashcan Man sets off the bomb. Vegas and everyone in it go bye bye.

Transformers 30. The conclusion to Chaos. Whoa. Wow. As good as the end of the original Marvel run.

X-Factor 227. The team goes up against new villain Bloodbath. Maddox gets fatally stabbed by his own dead dupe.

Damn. I read a spoiler, since I figured people are so careless on the internet that I'd see it anyway. I was expecting someone else. (Darklon wasn't it, though I thought it was a possibility--who the fuck likes Darklon? Even Destro doesn't.)

At least this character has died twice before. And I'm pretty sure the second time was probably intended to be permanent until he changed his mind. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Croc Master and Raptor showed up; everyone else on that freighter seemed to make it out, or be cloned.

In re-reading the story of Firefly's escape, it makes me wonder: sure, he knew about the BATs and Serpentor's body when everyone else had forgotten. But how the hell did no one else notice the immense noise the BATs had to have been making?

He also went down in the DDP run. Which, in hindsight, I almost prefer that death, since at least it solidified Wigglewampus Sr. as an irredeemable bastard. Here he gets taken out like an amateur by a new assailant. I keep hoping the entire thing is a ruse of some sort.

In any case R.I.P. William [NAME REDACTED].

Based on the preview, I was worried it might be another major character who also died in the DD run. Who is also a favorite of pretty much everyone.

Hama is the one who invented the Joe ninja shit, and isn't trying to shy away from it like they did in DD for a while, so the Sleeping Phoenix is a possibility. If not, well, think of three characters who are going to be really affected by this. Two of them hate each other, but this mutual loss could throw an interesting twist on their eternal conflict.

Eh, don't want to start a new thread....

Would Casanova Vol. 1 (Marvel version) and Immortal Iron Fist Vol. 1 be worth $6 each, shipped? Amazon's got them in their closeout store. I've heard very good things about both, but the only Fraction I've read, well, sucked. I'm especially wary of Iron Fist; though I love the character, I'm not too keen on buying anything within the MU.

I've not read Casanova, but Immortal Iron Fist was great. You could get it for the David Aja art alone, but that series was a fantastic update of the character.
Fraction's Punisher sucked. And his X-Men was weaksauce. But his Iron Man and Iron Fist were good.

I tossed Casanova into my cart already. I'll add Iron Fist to it. It's not tied too tightly to the MU, right?

They also had Vol. 12 of Punisher Max as a bargain book. Not Ennis, not Aaron, but I figure there's only a few volumes in between, so I may as well shoot for a full set. As overpriced as the individual volumes are normally, I'll get any for cheap that I can.

There were a couple arcs after Ennis left. The one in the bayou was pretty good. I can't recall the others, so that should tell you something.

Is Punishermax outside of the 616? I have the last few issues but have just been buying them to hold for reading once I have the set filled in - worth it or not?

There was: "Girls in White Dresses" by Hurwitz, with Frank in Mexico that introduced Jigsaw. Sucked.
"6 Hours to Kill" by Swierczynski, were Frank is poisoned and has...6 hours to kill...um, someone...before he dies. Sucked.
"Welcome to the Bayou" by Gischler, had Frank hunting the cast of Swamp People (if they mated with the guys from "Deliverance"). The most Ennis-like story, but was just so-so.

Not sure what Volume 12 is though. 11 was "Girls in White Dresses," so 12 should be "6 Hours to Kill." And that wasn't by Aaron.

All of MAX is outside 616. Its pretty good, but a lot like the Ennis Marvel Knights series, with some swearing and occasional boobs (but I think that has a lot to do with the Dillon artwork). And it would be best to start from the beginning of Aaron's MAX run, as its all one big story so far, involving Kingpin.

Batman #3 - A secret society of people obsessed with owls has been hiding in Gotham for hundreds of years.

The Bionic Man #4 - Holy shit, this comic contains a Bionic Man! There is a great "Bionic Man noise" joke/reference/explanation.

Butcher #5 - After seeing what exactly happened to his wife last month (and it was so fucked up), we find out how Butcher joined The Boys.

Catwoman #3 - Catwoman beats the living fuck out of Bones.

IZombie #19 - The aftermath of the big zombie attack.

Morning Glories #14 - No clue. I felt lost and like I read half of this issue before. Its a good comic but I may drop it soon because they just keep piling on the mysteries rather than answering any questions.

Punisher #5 - Good issue, but it seems early yo be taking a breather from the main story.

12 books this week, including (gasp!!) 3 DC books.

All Star Western 2 and 3. Yeah, yeah. I bought some New52 books. I was missing my Jonah Hex fix. Haven't read 'em yet.

Annihilators: Earthfall 3. Magus infects a third of the US with his ermm..Magi-ness(?) The team and the Avengers have to figure out how to in-Magi them before Ronan nukes Earth to stop the Spread of ermm...Mmmag.

Captain America & Bucky 624. A story of how Winter Soldier and Blacl Widow started knocking boots in the 50s. With the new Winter Soldier book starting in February, does Marvel really think it can sustain two Ongoing Bucky Barnes books?

Fantastic Four 600. First off, holy crap: $8 for a comic. Secondly, it was worth it. Zero surprise here that Johnny Storm is alive. An excellent 100+ page book culminating Hickman's myriad different plot threads for the past two years.

Iron Man 510. Mandarin and Zeke Stane team up to discredit Tony be revealing he was drunk during FI. Another excellent issue.

Iron Man 2.0 10. Sadly this smart book is one of the ones Marvel is scuttling. So they are wrapping up the Epic Addley Palmer mystery/threat.

Scalped 54. gasp! Another DC book! I'm buying the last few issues but not reading them until I have all of them.

Thor 8. So Tanarus is really Ulik in disguise, thanks to some magic from Karnilla Queen of the Norns. And Loki remembers a little bit more about Thor

Thunderbolts 165. Picked it up from last week. The TBoltd are still in WWII helping the Invaders fight Baron Zemo.

Astonishing X-Mem 44. Part of ReGenesis. Yet another alt reality team of X-Men are introduced (I'm losing track...and interest). Cyclops makes out with the alt reality Storm.

WaX-Men 2. The issue can best be summed up by this quote from the issue: "So who had 'Less than a day' in the 'How long before the whole school get demolished' Pool?"
