I watched Reservoir Dogs to death in university - mainly for the banter. Pulp Fiction & Jackie Brown are home runs. Kill Bill is where it kinda turns the corner - you care about the story but.... 2 x 2 hour movies to tell it? Really? That was the start of him making pet projects. Inglorious is better than Kill Bill is better than Django so far - and from what I've read Hateful 8 will be bringing up the rear.

For half a second, I thought you were serious.
The plot of The Brave One is pretty much Death Wish.

Watched Equilibrium with Christian Bale today. What a maroonish, ham fisted set up for a plot. “All art and music and literature is bad!”
And the ‘gun-fu’ or whatever that mashup up of martial arts and firearms was was fucking stupid. Afterwards, I read that the director made that shit up in his backyard. Fucking awful movie.

That plot has been used dozens of times since...well, Deathwish.

I wound up watching X-Men Apocalypse instead of Hateful 8 - no idea why. There is some spectacularly bad dialogue, but I was sucked into the final battle with Pocky enough to grudgingly give it an "ok". I am still completely baffled as to how Prof X can meet Nightcrawler here & in X2, both for the first time, but I don't think that's the only timeline conundrum this series has presented.

The scene where Magneto’s daughter dies was so laughably bad, I couldn’t get into the rest of the movie.
I liked the Quicksilver scene though.

Disney bought Fox at the right time then.

I've heard Dark Phoenix and New Mutants are both awful. Which is disappointing; New Mutants sounded promising.

Creed II. While the previous films in the Rocky series do a lot of the heavy lifting for this film, especially Rocky IV, they used the history in such a good way it made for a great film.

First Man. The small and personal story of Neil Armstrong’s trip to the moon. Well acted, but a tad dull.

Highwaymen. On Netflix. The Bonnie and Clyde story told from the side of the good guys. Great performances from Costner and Harrelson. My GF didn’t know the story of B+C, so she didn’t know how it ended. The look on her face during the final shootout was priceless.

Lego Batman. If I had the spare time, I would watch this movie a single frame at a time, just to catch everything in the background of every scene.

And I was bored last night, flipping thru Hulu and decided to rewatch the first couple episodes of Smallville. Haha man that has not held up well. Classic early WB acting.

Major League on Hulu. I was bored. So what exactly type of movie is this supposed to be? Was it promoted as a comedy? Romantic comedy? Sports comedy? Did this movie do well in 1989? Why did it warrant a sequel? The only time I laughed was when Charlie Sheen said “I look like a Banker.” and some of Bob Ueker’s commentary gave me mild chuckles. The romantic subplot with Berenger/Russo was...what was the point? I forgot Dennis Haysbert was in it, I always think of him as President Palmer.

Anyway, it’s a very forgettable movie.

"They're still shitty."

"Fuck you, Jobu. I do it myself."

There are truly some great lines in Major League.

Fuck you, I love Major League. I usually watch it every spring during spring training or the start of the season.

Never seen any of the Friday the 13th movies. The first eight are on Hulu so we binged them this weekend. Cheesy as hell, but fun to make fun of.
