Six page preview of Civil War in Wizard reveals that those bozos, The New Warriors, get their asses handed to them permanently. Along with a playground full of schoolkids. Although it doesn't come out until May, I think we should bow our heads and remember Night Thrasher, Namorita, and most importantly Speedball.
Au revoir, kids.

Man, what is with the "let's kill everyone in large numbers" kick both companies seem to be on lately?

I don't know - but it's comics so no one is ever really dead. Not even Bucky.

Shyeah, like that litle asswipe Speedball wasn't about 10 years overdue for a Blue Beetle special. I must say, however, that I'm equal parts excited and trepidatious ( is that a word? my mind is numb from lack of sleep) about this large an overhaul of the Marvel U. All do-gooders must work for the G? Realigning of the teams? It's all crazy!!
PS Did anyone see the cover of next week's Fantastic Four? Thor's hammer crashes to earth! After over a year, Goldilocks is about to come back. Sounds exciting. I'm glad this House of M/The Other lull is over and the House of Ideas is maybe starting to crackle again.

FF535, the end of a big battle between Savage Hulk, Johnny and Benjamin J. Grimm. Good last couple of issues. For those not reading (which sounds like everyone who's not me), they've finally resolved the situation between social services and the Richards family - the kids can stay at home. I'm liking Mike McKone more and more, but am still pining for the Waid/Wieringo team to come back.

(sigh) I dropped it after JMS first story arc, but since I'm gonna get the issue with Thor, I may as well pick up the couple issues I missed. I hate having fucking holes in my runs. If you say that sentence out loud by itself, it sounds completely gross, but to anyone who collects comics, it makes perfect sense.

Holes in your runs are the devil.

Finally read Nighthawk #6 - I think that was about the best limited series I've ever read. Tell me that wouldn't make the action movie of a lifetime!

Okay, EP, since this is the only board I go to where I might run into you, what are your thoughts on Civil War?

God, Civil War #1 was drivel. I didn't have much hope, but that was truly stupid. My least favorite thing that comics creators can do is to try and turn Captain America into Superman.... and that type of carp was ALL OVER this book.
So far the best MU book I've read this week was the conclusion to the Spider-Woman origin story. Very good limited series, that was.

At least now I know I'm not alone in my disappointment over Civil War.
Did anyone else find it extremely out of character of the New Warriors to go out the way they did? Maybe not Speedball, exactly, but certainly Nita and Night Thrasher. (They may both suck, but they were both heroes first and foremost. Not idiots trying to mug for the camera.)

yeah, they should've at least used an ESTABLISHED team that hams for the cams, like x-statix or something like that... i found myself not giving a shit because the last i heard of the new warriors was like, 15 years ago... i didnt' even know they had anything going in the modern era... or that they were a "reality show parody knock-off."
as for cap and his portayal, it seems like millar got confused and thought he was writing "ultimate civil war." i'm surprised cap didn't make some crack about the "a" not standing for france again...

I had read the preview for Civil War, which was basically the first 6 pages or whatever, leading up to the explosion. I thought it sucked then, and it sucked even worse once I realized I had already read it and not liked it 2 months ago.
I'm feeling pretty harsh right now about the whole thing - but will admit that I'm ready to read the rest of the series to see what happens. Is it weekly, bi-weekly or some other thing? And when does Civil War: Frontline start?

Civil War will be monthly - meaning they'll be dragging this mofo out until November.
Frontline has 2 issues a month June through October.
