movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

maybe, maybe not. all discrepancies due to DoFP can easily be hand-waved because time travel.
Strange has been confirmed as an upcoming phase 3 movie as far as I know, and I think John Hamm is going play the good doctor. I'm sure the name-dropping has been done on a very planned out schedule so that folks are alive to the idea of Strange when the initial posters/trailers start up toward the end of this year (I'm guessing). Speaking of all that, has there been any mention of Scott Lang or a Doctor Lang anywhere? Ant Man is also confirmed I believe.
i don't think there's been any official word on Dr. Strange. there was preview footage of Ant Man in that Agents of SHIELD timeslot replacement talking about the rise of the MCU. i'd not heard about Jon Hamm until now and looked it up, looks like a whirlwind of rumor sites reporting other rumor sites' rumors as news to me and not much else. Dr. Strange isn't mentioned on the MCU wikipedia entry while Ant Man is.
It'll be a tough one if they're mutants in one version but not in the other. Kevin Feige, the producer had this quote about Dr. Strange which I guess is kinda being construed as confirmation, though I can see how it's not really:
“Beyond that… ‘Ant-Man’ is the only one officially announced, but you probably don’t have to look too far to guess at the next list of characters we’re toying with and beginning to develop…’Doctor Strange,’ which I’ve been talking about for years, is definitely one of them. He’s a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he’s totally different from anything else we have, just like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ He’s totally different from anything we’ve done before, as is ‘Ant-Man,’ which keeps us excited.”
In a recent interview Feige said they have phases/films mapped out until 2028. At 3 movies per year, that's A LOT of Marvel goodness. And plenty of recasting by then.
They're probably holding off until SDCC to announce the Phase III films.
Strange is pretty high on the list.
Black Panther is up there.
Since the Nova Corps is in GotG, Nova is probably coming soon. And perhaps even Capt. Marvel.
They've mentioned solo films for BW, Nick Fury, and trying to figure out a Ruffalo Hulk sequel.
Thinking outside the box, a BW film with the Netflix DD as a guest star would be sweet. Or a DD vs Punisher film with Jane.

I think they've got this big master plan a bit too set in stone. The minute Avengers broke all the records, they should've listened to the buzz and changed things around a bit so that the next movies they started on were Black Widow and Hulk 3. Pretty much everyone agrees those two stole the show.

There will def be some things to negotiate. I think Downey Jr. is only signed on for Avengers 2 & 3 as it stands, and whatever the fuck the guy's name is who plays Cap has said some things about being done with acting. They need to make sure they get through the next FEW films leading up to & including Avengers 3 (vs Thanos) in as good a shape as possible - but they'll really have to reconvene & reassess at that point.
I think it will survive a Downey-less universe at this point. Yes, it was impeccable synergistic timing casting him as Stark, but he's not the ONLY person capable of being Stark. The MCU has snowballed in popularity enough to allow recasting. I bet Tim Olyphant would make a good Tony Stark.

I'd be fine with them having Rhodey take over, but only for Avengers films. I'm not lining up and paying $45 to see War Machine.
How about Cap? I don't think they'd want to resort to bench warmers for both of those main roles. It's likely Ryan Reynolds at #1 with Channing Tatum as #2 (yep, I said it) - I think they both have that little bit of smart ass about them that Gosling wouldn't bring.

/downsyndrome Holy fuck - let's maybe have Hank Pym & Janet show up first. /end downsyndrome
Edgar Wright's long gestating Ant-Man film has Paul Rudd playing Scott Lang with Mike Douglas as an elderly Hank Pym in a supporting role. They bypassed your dream of a Hank/Janet as Ant-Man/Wasp film. Sorry, bubbalah.
NO! to Ryan Reynolds as Cap.
Channing Tatum is lobbying hard to play Gambit.
I'd suggest Theo James, but I've already cast him as Mar-Vell in my head. And Sarah Jones as Carol Danvers. However I'm open to suggestions for a youngish Rick Jones.
Besides, Conventional Wisdom suggests they'll have Evans get killed in Cap 3 or Avengers 3 and have Bucky take over. Then if "Steve" ever returns, they can recast.
I'm also patiently waiting for them to cast Liam Hemsworth as Balder the Brave in Thor:Son of Asgard, (aka Thor III)

Regarding a Nova film, you'd hope they'd go "classic" with Richard Rider, but I'll bet they go the Sam Alexander route.
However, somewhere in that 42-film schedule, I'd be down with a New Warriors movie. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 could intro the classic team from the future, which could lead to Vance Astro getting his powers kickstarted. And then the Namor movie or it's sequel could intro Namorita. Not sure if Firestar is allowed or if she's FoX-Men property. But that just leaves Thrasher and Speedball for comic relief.
Also, a Namor movie should be a Human Torch/Namor team up Buddy cop style movie in the 40s Lethal Weapon style. First they fight, then they team up. Maybe even round up the Howling Commandos again.

As the rights roll back over into Disney's hands, the possibilities truly become endless.
I'm ok with Paul Rudd for the most part, but there have also been a couple of movies where he has been pretty much insufferable (Idiot brother & the one where he's arguing with Elizabeth Banks about starbucks calling their large coffee "venti" whatever that was called - both terrible). He's funny when he can be filthy - I'm thus not overly hopeful about Ant-Man.
I'd be overjoyed to see them return to the 40s for a Subby & Torch 1 get together, provided Stark Sr, Peggy Carter & the Howling Commandos all play a role - it would be too obviously weird for them NOT to show up. Heck, since we're spitballing I'd likely pay to see Sgt. Fury & the Howling Commandos set in that era as well.
I would really like to see the universes eventually compressed down into one cohesive entity, but that's obviously not going to happen at least up to and including the end of this Avengers trilogy.
Captain America - Sebastian Stan signed like a 9 picture deal, where Chris Evans has 3 flicks left (Cap 3 and Avengers 2 and 3), so you can probably see where Marvel is going with that.
The Avengers - The producers have already said that just like the comics The Avengers isn't always the 6 person team we saw in the first movie so they are prepared to change the roster if they don't have an Iron Man or Captain America.
Mutants - Marvel can't call Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch mutants since Fox owns the rights to all things mutant and it looks like they are reworking their origin.
Dr Strange - I don't think Dr Strange has been officially announced yet. Just wishes and wants from Marvel. Only a matter of time, I'm sure.
Hulk - Marvel seems to think a solo Hulk film is a tough sell after the last two. Yeah, he was a hit in The Avengers, but Hulk only had like 8 minutes if screen time. Plus, he has the team to play off. There were early rumors of Planet/World War Hulk being incorporated into Avengers 3 and then a Hulk sequel, but i think they were just rumors.
Iron Man - RDJ owns that role, so it will tough to recast Stark, but it can be done. I'm not so sure Marvel wants to pony up the cash that RDJ is currently getting - he made like $50 million of The Avengers alone.
Agent Carter - There is a good possibility we'll be seeing an Agent Carter tv series soon, possibly this fall (to run with Agents of SHIELD). It will follow the Agent Carter One-shot and show the early days of SHIELD. Lots of golden age possibilities there.
Punisher - Throw money at Tom Jane and give me a gorram Punisher tv show!

it wasn't just how well they were able to do the Hulk animation (which was awesome), but (IMO) it was also Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of Bruce Banner that really stole the show.
Ruffalo was awesome & the Hulk was awesome in the Avengers. They've had real trouble with Hulk (and Superman) failing to find the balance between character & action - regardless of where they go, the internet seems to hate all of them. It must be difficult to try & figure out a story that's different enough from all of those to actually work.
