Yeah, I was apparently way jumping the gun.
Mrs A told me about an article (which, unfortunately, she can't recall where she read it) that says that, though they won't actually admit it, Nintendo is more interested in filling European demand right now. Why? The dollar is worthless. The Euro isn't. They're anticipating either a turnaround in the US economy within the next year, or at least European demand to be mostly sated, at which point they'll turn their focus back to the US.
As to how that affects Canada, no idea. Maybe they don't want them easily available right across the border, so Americans will have to buy them in six months when the dollar isn't so far down the shitter?

Yeah, that may be
their excuse, but I think they're still sore at us for dropping the bomb on them.
Japanese guys give me a boner.

Slowly taking over our pop culture with their ninjas and manga and walkmen and videogames wasn't enough?

I bought Zelda this weekend. It is about what I expected.
Have you guys ever do any judging for the Mii contests? Some people submit the dumbest things...like a Dr. Zoidberg (from futurama) in the Jesse James competition.

The future of gaming is going to be awesome.

Did any of you guys play Okami on PS2? My PS2 died right around when it came out, so I never got to play it. In the game, you are a wolf and the game is done in traditional Japanese art. It is supposed to be a beautiful game and it got great reviews. It is coming out for the Wii, so I may have to pick it up.

No, I didn't.
But the Zapper with Link's Crossbow Training is the best $20 you can spend on a game.

Really? I see it all the time and wonder what it is. It is the game and a controller, right?
And speaking of Zelda, I just finished the desert level last night.

Yeah. It's pretty cheap, considering it's both. And Crossbow Training is just a kickass shooting game.

Good job! You're about 15% way through the game!!

An interesting conundrum occurred to me last night.
The Wii Zapper comes with Link's Crossbow Training. I believe some copies of the new Resident Evil came with a Zapper, too.
The Wii Balance Board will come with Wii Fit, and at least one other game that uses it (Wii Ski) is released the same day.
Mario Kart will come with the Wii Steering Wheel (the official version; not sure how it's different from the third-party version).
The conundrum: All of these games can be multiplayer games. As can at least one other existing Zapper game (Ghost Squad).
Nintendo doesn't appear to sell any of the peripherals separately.
So how the fuck do you have all players on equal footing (and I mean that literally when referring to the Balance Board) without getting a shitload of duplicate games you don't need?

Is the Zapper just a plastic holder for an existing controller? Is the Link game just another set of mini games like Wii Play?
There was some other Off-road 4x4 game with a steering wheel. It was rather cheap if I remember correctly.
We already decided to get Wii Fit. From what I read, there are a bunch of "games" on that disc.

So a Best Buy opened up about two miles from here. We got a thing in the mail for their grand opening: spend $100, get a $10 giftcard. We had $94 in giftcard balances already we were hanging onto. Both Mrs A and I have had our eye on Super Smash Bros Brawl. So we got that, and Mario Kart Wii, and a second steering wheel (which I was wrong about them not selling--without it, the total was two cents shy of $100, so we had to get a little something else).
The whole take was about $24... plus we got a $10 giftcard, so it was more like $14. Can't beat that.
I've not opened SSBB, but we've played Mario Kart Wii.
HOLY GODDAMN!!!! THAT IS THE BEST $50 I'VE DROPPED ON A GAME SINCE MARIO PARTY 8. IT MAY EVEN BE BETTER!

man oh man, i got an ebgames giftcard burning a hole in my... desk (it's on my desk, not in my wallet...) and i think i know what i'm going to get...
lee caravallo's putting challenge.
no, silly head... mario kart. fuck yeah. maybe now the missus will play with my wii! she was a fan of the n64 version, couldn't really get her into double-dash, but maybe this will work. she already likes the wii a lot more than anything else since n64, so that's cool... i think this may be the one that gets her, though. god i hope so...
