You know what? I don't have this on DVD. I was holding out for the patented Wachowski-style 4 Disc version that they obviously never made, and just never got around to buying it. Later on, I watched my roommates disc whenever I got the urge, so again didn't bother to buy it.
So now I had the urge to watch it, and I don't have it. Why isn't this in the $5 bin at WM?

You got Big Lots around there? I know you don't have Ross, but how about Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or Home Goods? I've seen it for less than five bucks at all those places. I've also seen the blu-ray for about $9 at quite a few places, but don't recall off-hand where.

I've seen ithe dvd at Big Lots. Can't remember if it was $3 or $5.

My girlfriend ordered the DVD for me and it arrived a couple days ago. I hadn't watched it in at least 7 years.

It is still glorious. I had a huge grin on my face the entire time.

it was made in such a way that it almost can't age, it is just so ridiculous and earnest and fun

If not for the Commodore 64 reference, it would exist entirely out of time.

Is this movie really that good or is this one of those stupid things to like? I've never seen it but I'm making a list of DVD's I should buy (and yes I still buy DVD's!) and I'll add it if it's cheap enough.

It's really good - but it's a pure live action cartoon. The visuals are trippy as all fuck. The characters are all pretty simple, but they interact beautifully. Highly, highly worth the time it would take to watch it & the $5 it would cost to grab a copy.

JJ summed it up: it's a live action cartoon. Some people wanted the faux-grit of most adaptations, and I'm convinced Warner sorta buried it as much as they could because it's got a pretty strong anti-corporate message. (For starters, how many movies got the coveted "two thumbs up" from Ebert and Roeper and never advertised that once?)

It's one of the few movies I upgraded to blu-ray because the visuals really are that good. Big Lots has it for $5 or less most of the time, and Walmart probably does, too.

Well, since I've only seen bits and pieces of Blues Brothers myself I tend to agree with his taste in movies.
