JLA. What a great issue. Just the official choosing of the team. Watching Dinah and Hal tear up as Roy becomes Red Arrow was just amazing. I loved the whole thing. This is a damn good book. Benes' art kills.

Annihilation. The Silver Sufer issue. i don't really like how they dispatched these two almost omnipotent equal to Galactus characters in HALF an issue, but it's fitting that Norrin Radd is the Herald again. The Firelord half was meh.

Avengers Initiative. Good to see War Machine back in action, but who the hell are all these new characters and where did they come from? I can't invest in them if they are just going to "Create" dozens of new heroes to fill up all those 50 State teams. Especially ones with dumb powers like Armory, Cloud-9 and Komodo. Gads.

Dark Tower. It's funny to be reading this in the book, and then read it in the comic a few weeks later. Jae Lee's brilliant art helps though.

Fallen Son: Wolverine. I'm not a fan of Lienel Yu's art, but theres a double page of Daredevil and Wolvie in here that is gorgeous. The story was good, but when you are dealing with a story this provoking it kind of writes itself doesn't it?

FN Spidey. Oh what the hell. Since I'm dropping it, I'll say that David throws some funny quirk into his books. And I've been a fan of Nuack since Young Justice, but theres nothing outstanding about this title and Spidey doesn't need three monthlies.

Hulk. WOW. You should buy this issue. And then when World War Hulk is in full swing, I defy you NOT to root for Green Scar to DESTROY the Illuminati. Civil War has proven that Tony Stark, Reed Richards, etc are douches. So now Banner should come back and KILL them. That's right. KILL.

Iron Fist. This book moves right along and makes Danny Rand more interesting than he's been since..well....ever.

Omega Flight. Not a fan of the art, but I like the story. Didn't really introduce a majority of the cast, but I think it was important to get Sasquatch's thinking down and his reasons for joining since he was the only surviving member of the late Alpha Flight team. Nicely done.

Punisher. Another solid MAX outing that puts the mainstream PWJ to shame. No titties this month though. Shame.

GIJoe. Baroness puts a bullet in Wraith's head. Good stuff!

Dude, if they're just churning out shitloads of new characters for this Initiative, is there anywhere that lists all the names that are now off-limits?

Nevermind; I found a list online.

For characters created in 2007, those are some fucktarded names.

Flatman?

Radioactive Man? Please tell me he doesn't have a sidekick named Fallout Boy.

FlatMan is one of the Great Lakes Avengers, turned GLX ( since they all turned out to be mutants) and now the latest incarnation is GLI, or Great Lakes Initiative.

Radioactive Man is a long time Thor villain (hence the silly name, he was created in the 60's) who is currently on the Thunderbolts team. He's a rather interesting character, once you get past the name. Dr. Chen Lu, Chinese Nationalist, on loan to the U.S.

From last week:
DD #96 - Good start to the new story.

This week:
SW Legacy #10 - Jeezum Crow, why do I keep doing this to myself? Cade's Mom is the same age (or younger looking) than he is? :bIZZARO mABS:

The Punisher #46 - More great shit from Ennis. That chick with no tits is gonna kick all kinds of ass.

Well I got a free trip out west (for court, not plain-old free), so with my meal allowance I bought comics!

Civil War: The Confession - damn, this WAS good. Bendis and Maleev, and I'll leave it right there.

Spider-Man Reign #4 - I almost got done this on the plane, but not quite. Better than issues 2 and 3, and hopefully it'll end well.

Avengers: The Initiative 1 - ain't read it yet.

Fallen Son: Wolverine 1 - ain't read it yet, but the Turner cover is very nice.

Dark Tower 3 - better than issue 2, and featuring possibly the nicest comic art I've ever seen. Unbelievable.

AS Supes. Haven't read it yet. ( Saving best for last)

Teen Titans. Big fight issue. I expect more CONFLICT considering the Family Dynamic of Deathstroke, and his children Rose and Jericho. Nice closing page though.

Ghost Rider. Haven't reat it yet.
Iron Man. Haven't read it yet.

N'Avengers. Ugh. Sorry but if I have to carefully look at the chicken scratch art to discern who is who and where they are, but it detracts from the enjoyment of the issue. And who the Fuck is Ronin already?? Is it Dakota North? Because that would satisfy my "It's a Woman" thing and also bring back a REALLY obscure character from Marvel History.

New X-Men. Interestingly the focus shifts to an even newer untested group of X-Babiesand brings back Magik who is a really cool character.

Nova. haven't read it yet.

Punisher War Journal. Dear. God. Why.

Thunderbolts. It occured to me yesterday that I am so wrapped up in the moral ambiguity of watching this team on its road to inevitable self destruction with equal parts facsination and disgust that I totally take Deodato's awesome artwork for granted. This is a fucking excellent book written by Warren Ellis, but these are NOT the good guys and the book doesnt even read like they are and its amazing and deplorable at the same time.

Uncanny. The Penultimate Issue! Xavier DIES! ( I think...I'm not sure, it was ambiguous) I was worried that this twelve issue opus wasn't going to pay off inthe last two issues ( shades of Civil War cloud my judgment on such things lately) but this was damn good and the next issue should be awesome.

Wolverine: Origins. Sure, you got your bloody big claw fight between Logan and Daken, but wheres the revealing of the secret hidden past of the ol' Canuck? Nothing happened AGAIN except for hack and slash that we've seen Logan do a million times before in other books. I think I'm with jjr when I say I'm dropping this one.

I also picked up Loners issue #1 and was surprised a bit. Enjoyable enough to see where the next issue goes.

Kind of a bad week this week:

Punisher War Journal #6 - EP said it best. Going to have to drop it if gets much gayer.

Wolverine Origins #13 - Took all of 5 minutes (at the very most) to read. The plot wanders on with little to nothing happening. Thinking about dropping this also, which is a damn shame, considering how great it started.

All-Star Superman #7 - Who'd have thought something with Bizzaro could be this boring? Another possible drop.
I miss All-Star Batman...

Runaways #25 - I picked it up for two reasons: Whedon and The Punisher. Wasn't too impressed, but I'll pick up the next issue to see where it goes with The Punisher.

AS Superman. Yeah, it was alittle weak this month, almost like Morrison wasted this issue as buildup to next issue. Shame.

Iron Man. I was more interested in the Mandarin side story than whatever boring shit Tony Stark was doing. Does Marvel realize that TS is a douche and noone wants to read the adventures of Douche Man every month? I cannot wait until Hulk comes back and hands him his ass.

Nova. Meh. Not a rousing first issue. Normally I wouldn't stick around for issue two based on this one, but its gonna have Nova coming home and finding out about the New Warriors and Civil War. Since he just survived Annhiliation ( which was WAYYY worse in the greater scheme of the Marvel UNIVERSE) it'll be interesting to see him going off on Stark.

I thought it was fine. Set-up issues never get the respect they deserve. The art was wicked.

Here's what I read yesterday.

Flash. Other than the "shocking" last page ( What is it with heroes outing themselves?) this book is just not living up to its potential. i'm finishing the arc and then it's gone

JLA. Oh. BOO!! No Benes art? What the hell is that? First part of the JLA/JSA crossover.

Mighty Avengers. Wouldn't it be cool if Ultron HAD killed Tony Stark? No one would see THAT one coming!!! What's up with the thought balloons? I like this book. Much better than that Initiative crap. And better art than New Avengers.

Moon Knight. Another fill in artist. Damn you Finch. I think I'm dropping this after next issue also.

Sensational Spidey. It occured to me that this new lad who is Peter's Student if he had been experimented on would make the perfect new Spider-Man. They could reboot back to high school and he's got the good looking girlfriend, and instead of Aunt May, he's got the good looking single mom which would open up all sorts of intersting story lines. Peter is such a downer lately and they've written him into a corner, this might likely be a way out and have Peter take on a mentor role. You heard it here first.

Ultimate Spidey. Ultimate Ronin! This book is consistently good but I think after this arc, I'm dropping it for $$ reasons.

X-Men. Wow. This book is confusing as hell and the art makes my head hurt, but for some reason I just locked onto the storyline and it made sense. Looking forward to the resolution next month. This is definitely the most interesting X-Men team going right now. Fresh faces and motives for being on the team. Astonishing is a better book, but this one has more potential I think. Can't wait for #200 right around the corner. Can you believe it's been 200 issues since Lee and Claremeont launched this one 15 years ago? Holy shit I'm old.
