Fuck no, he couldn't! Have you seen the video of Colbert kicking Darth Maul's ass? Frank would take no effort to put On Notice... with a vengeance.Eternal Padawan wrote:Yeah how hard would it be to take Cap's Shield away from Stephen Colbert? Frank could do that easily.

If the Stephen Colbert shit is part of the Marvel Canon, I am going to set up an elaborate ruse to get Joe Q. and Rob Leifeld to kick each other in the nuts to death.
It seems as though whoever had Steve Rogers in custody ( IE Tony Stark and SHIELD) is/are still in posession of his Shield.
Who can they get to replace Cap? Is this going to turn into another Death Of Superman thing? Or Spidey Clone fiasco? You know at some point Marvel ( or the USGovt inthe actual universe) is going to want Captain America. Because it's the Marvel U, it's possible and probably eventual that Rogers will resume the mantle, dead or not. That doesn't figure for much 616 side. But in the meantime...
Frank "Punisher" Castle. This one is up first, but I think we all know that it's doomed to failure.
Taskmaster. Since Iron Man and Marvel are in love with making villains into heroes right now ( Thunderbolts!), I could see them trying this one if only temporarily. A short sighted answer that would make for an interesting couple of issues.
Isiah X. Son of the "original" Captain America. Briefly hung with "The Crew" for seven issues before it got cancelled. Ballsy, Marvel. I'd be down with it. This guy even has a different political agenda that would make for good conflictive stories, both with other characters and within himself as he reconciled being as Icon bigger than his own ideals.
Patriot. Grandson of the "original" Captain America. Now a Young Avenger. A bit TOO young Avenging and also not ready to graduate to his own title.
U.SAgent. Johnny Walker would probably be down with and he has the experience, but Marvel shuffled him off to Canada for a reason. It ain't him.
Battlestar. Another Equatorial. Former partner to John Walker's Cap. Also has shield slinging experience. Was with Silver Sable's Wild Pack. Hasn't been heard from in awhile. ( Briefly seen getting captured during Civil War.) Not a likely candidate, but still a candidate.
Falcon. Sam Wilson would feel the burden of Cap's uniform as a debt he owed Steve. I'm sure he would gladly don the uniform, but I don't think he's the right man for the job. It might be a cool story arc to have him TRY to be Cap for 3-6 issues and realize he's not the guy.
James Buchanan Barnes. Fitting that the torch would pass to him. If Brubaker and Joe Q ressurected him for just this purpose, then I bow down to their foresight. And there is so much internal and external strife associated with the character. No way the US Govt would be down with an ex Soviet Assassin donning the wings. And his loyalties lie with Nick Fury, who is persona non gratis with SHIELD. And think of all the "Look what I have to live up to" angst that would come with it. Wicked. Even though I would love to see Marvel take a chance on an Equatorial in the costume, I think this would be more fitting.
What do you guys think? Can anybody else fill Cap's boots?

Well New Avengers 28 was terrible. I don't know what the hell happened, but Lenil Yu's pencils looked like mine - and he's making WAY more money than I ever could drawing comics. Totally bush league. The story was interesting though.....
I also bought the FF 45th ann issue, another issue of X-Men (196 now, I think they're up to), Amazing 539 (which should have been out before the last issue of Sensational AND the last 2 issues of FNSpidey), Wolvie Origins 12 (haven't read that yet) and that might be it.
I missed Civil War: The Confession which was supposed to contain the last conversation between Tony and Steve, as well as Tony having another chat with Cap's lifeless body - that's a book I'll have to track down.

The Fallen Son: Wolverine book was very good, I'm going to try and pick those up as they come out. What the hell is up with Leinil? The art in this book was excellent. Jeph Loeb is awesome.... how the FUCK did Wolverine 50-52 suck so bad? I'm baffled.
FF543 - Reed and Sue decide to take a break to work on their marriage, and in come T'Challa and Ororo to take over the married couple's FF spots. Not sure what I think of this, I'd be more inclined to pay $4 a month to read about the Richards' marriage counselling than the new FF. Call me crazy....
The Initiative Avengers 1 - terrible. I have no interest in any of these characters. Hank Pym acting like a tough guy blew any chance of me finding this book at all palatable - and then you add in about 10 LAME new characters. Total dog shit.

I sincerely hope ( and this will never happen) that Reed and Sue can't make it work, she can't forgive him, and forever after, there's this awkward "Divorce" thing in the Marvel U, where people have to choose sides about Sue and Reed. And then it gets even better when she starts dating again and maybe even remarries.

The way Quesada has let the Marvel U go to shit I can see that happening.Eternal Padawan wrote:I sincerely hope ( and this will never happen) that Reed and Sue can't make it work, she can't forgive him, and forever after, there's this awkward "Divorce" thing in the Marvel U, where people have to choose sides about Sue and Reed.
And she fucks a bunch of chicks in a 6 issue MAX mini-series.Eternal Padawan wrote:And then it gets even better when she starts dating again and maybe even remarries.

No, she decides to see Namor and Reed turns into "Evil Reed" and decides to bring Atlantis back to the surface with his super Atlantis-Raiser-izer ray. The war that ensues causes havoc in the Marvel Universe for 11 months, complete with 2 10 issue miniseries, a dozen or so 1-shot specials and more die-cut covers than you can shake a stick at.
