Re: The current state of disarray at Marvel
It confused no one in 1989 when Batman wore gray and blue, and the Joker was alive.
If they're concerned with confusing moviegoers who pick up a comic, put in a note. Not a confusing crossover that kills the multiverse just to make Nick Fury black or whatever.

I got the freeb magazine today with my comics.
I noticed neither Rick Remender nor Edmondson have any writer credits. Yahoo.

Re: The current state of disarray at Marvel
i might have to jump in again with the start of Amazing Spider-man, Spider-man, Spider-man 2099, and Spider-Gwen.
man, why is steve rogers so old looking? did the serum wear off and age him over-night or something?

Yeah the serum wearing off is why Falcon had to become Cap. Oh and because he's black.

So, Miles is Spider-Man, Peter is also but is a genius billionaire, and Spider-Woman is preggers.
Got it.

And also Web Warriors and Silk!vynsane wrote:i might have to jump in again with the start of Amazing Spider-man, Spider-man, Spider-man 2099, and Spider-Gwen.
That happened at the end of Remender's run. Don't know the specifics since I loathe him and didn't read it.man, why is steve rogers so old looking? did the serum wear off and age him over-night or something?

Re: The current state of disarray at Marvel
^ was considering Web Warriors and Silk as well, but even if i go the subscription route again, we're talking ~$120/year for those four books. now, naturally i once would have plunked down almost that much on a single wednesday, but other things - particularly LEGO - have superseded that hobby. $120 a year i could do, but another $60 on top of that... idk.

Re: The current state of disarray at Marvel
My thoughts on each book and whether I'm in or not.
Iron Man. Bendis writing Stark? I'm in.
A-Force. Eh. Depending on how the SW mini shakes out. I'll give the first few issues a try.
ANAD Avengers. I liked the FCBD issue. And it's Waid and Kubert. So I'm in.
Uncanny Avengers. Duggan writing DP and Spidey and Steve Rogers and Quicksilver? Hell yes. And Stegman on art is a yes. Definite in.
New Avengers. I'm buying anything Al Ewing is writing. And that team looks fun.
Ultimates. Again, Al Ewing writing. I'm in. Plus, Galactus on a superhero team? Too intriguing not to check out.
Doc Strange. Aaron and Bachalo is an interesting enough team to at least give it an issue or two.
Capt Marvel. Eh. The last two series were okay but not great. Somebody needs to make Carol A-list. I'll give it a few issues.
Sam Wilson, Capt. America. Nick Spencer's Foes of Spidey and his Ant-Man are both great. I don't like Acuna's art. And Sam as Cap is trying to make Fetch happen. Reluctantly try an issue or two.
Totally Awesome Hulk. If the rumors are true and it's Amadeus Cho I'm totally in.
Mighty Thor. The previous series was good and it's the same creative team, so I'm in.
Scarlet Witch. James Robinson makes this my first definite out. Pass.
Ms. Marvel. Same creative team as before. I'm in.
Illuminati. Hmm. Curiosity will get me to pick up the first few issues.
Hawkeye. Again, same creative team means I'll stick around.
Ant-Man. Same creative team. Nick Spencer is a funny writer. And it's like they crammed his Ant-Man and Foes cast together. So yes.
Vision. Nothing about this looks interesting. Pass. Maybe first issue.
Contest of Champions. Al Ewing. So yes.
Amazing Spidey. Dan Slott is the Chris Claremont of Amazing Spidey. Dudes been writing it forever. I'm in.
Carnage. Hmmm. Gerry Conway writing an ongoing at Marvel? Mike Perkins on art! Yup, I'm in.
Spider-Woman. Previous creative team means I'll stick around for awhile. I'm in.
Spider-Man. Bendis writing Miles in the MU. Yes.
Spider-Gwen. Same creative team. Yes.
Silk. Same creative team. Yes.
Spidey 2099. Same creative team. Yes.
Web Warriors. Mike Costa writing. I liked Baldeon's art on Nova. I'll try it for a few issues.
Daredevil. Ron Garney's art has got me more excited than Soule's writing. But it's DD so I'm in.
Guardians. Basically the same creative team. And I love that Ben Grimm is now a Guardian. I'm in.
Drax. Eh. No real interest in CM PUNK writing. Ed McGuiness' art means I'll give the first issue a shot.
Howard the Duck. Hell yes.
Nova. Nothing about this jumps out at me. Neither the creative team nor the premise. It gets one issue to hook me.
Star-Lord. Humphries was doing well enough on the previous series, I'll stick around.
Venom Spaceknight. That premise alone is intriguing enough to try a few issues.
Howling Commandos. Eh. Not really feeling it. But at least Dum Dum Dugan is alive.
Agents of SHIELD. Mark Waid's run was fun, but this looks like a tonal shift with a new writer. I'll give it a try but it's only got one or two issues to hook me.
Uncanny Inhumans. The previous series and the 0 issue got me interested enough to stick around for an arc or two. I'm in.
Karnak. Warren Ellis' name is enough for me to at least try it.
Angela. Keiron Gillen's arc was great. But a new writer makes this a chancy one. I'll give it an issue or two.
Squadron Supreme. James Robinson means no. The premise piques my interest. But...Robinson. I'll see you in the quarter bins.
Extraordinary X-Men. Pfft. I'm a sucker for X-Men. So yes to this. And to Uncanny and All New as well.
Old Man Logan. Logan stuck in "the past"? Sounds interesting. I'm in.
Wolverine. That costume looks stupid on her. But I'm a fan of Laura so I'll check it out.
Deadpool. It's Duggan. So yes I'm still in.
I noticed Citizen V and Red Wolf were in the teaser images, but none of the series. So I'm assuming there's at least a few more books they'll be announcing later on. Thunderbolts?
But yeah. I'll be dropping a lot of cash in Sept.
Iron Man. Bendis writing Stark? I'm in.
A-Force. Eh. Depending on how the SW mini shakes out. I'll give the first few issues a try.

i'm still surprised by your hate for Robinson. his Starman is one of the pinnacles of comic book writing to me. admittedly i haven't read much of his stuff since...

Re: The current state of disarray at Marvel
I haven't read Star Man. I'm sitting on close to a full run and I'm looking forward to reading it.
But his return to DC (his One Year Later Batman arc "Face the Face" and his JLA series Cry For Justice) were just awful. CFJ fills me with rage it was so bad. And I'm not alone. His JLA run after that was mediocre, but they removed the far superior late Dwayne McDuffie from the book to give it to Robinson which irked the fuck out of me.
He had quite a sizable run on Superman that I haven't read. And he did Earth 2 for the New52, made famous for making Alan Scott gay which I also haven't read. After that, he fell out with DC for their shitty editorial interference.
His is jump to Marvel has just been mediocrity rife with mischaracterization. Basically he's a giant pile of overrated, sailing on his Starman laurels. Or perhaps Starman was also just mediocre, but sitting amidst the dreck of the late 90s it looked golden when it was only just passable.

Leave it Chance was good too (re. James Robinson), but the FF thing was horrible.

Re: The current state of disarray at Marvel
Ok so let me get this straight - Amazing Spider-Man is going to have 18.1, 19.1 and 20.1 yet will have no 19 or 20. Got it, as fucking stupid as it is.

Re: The current state of disarray at Marvel
Yup.
I think, before, this "Spiral" story arc would've just been a separate miniseries. Shoehorning it into the main series with this asinine numbering is just dumb.
God help noobies trying to figure out modern comics numbering.
