Re: Big score........
Here's my SDCC haul for 2010. I paid either 50 cents or a buck for all but a dozen of these. I don't know the total count but its a longbox worth.
Amazing Fantasy 9-12,17-20. I got a bunch of this short series from a few years ago. Of the 20 issues I'm missing 6 or 7 for a full run.
Amazing Spidey 409,412-414,2,18. Still filling 90s holes. Found a half dozen issues I needed, both from the end of the original run and the 99 reboot. But the ones I'm missing I discovered are like $30 because MJ "dies" in them.
Couple issues of Artemis limited series from the 90s. It had early Benes art and I'm a fan of the character.
Last four issues of Avengers:Initiative I needed for a FULL RUN. Woot.
One issue of New Avengers:Reunion LS.
Batman 349 from 1982.
Detective Comics 719. The last issue missing from my run from like 580 on up. Quite happy with that one.
BM/outsiders 7. Filling a hole.
Beast 1 from the 97 LS. Eh. It was 50 cents.
Black Panther 3-8 from the new female BP run which ended at 12 so only a few issues left to find.
A couple CaptAmerica Sentinel of Liberty issues and 437 from the original run. Getting close to a full run from before 300 on up. Including all the reboot series which I have done now.
Dark Reign limited series including Elektra, FF, Hawkeye, Sinister Spidey, the Hood and Mr. Negative. Not full runs of any of them, but a good dent in the line as a whole.
Fantastic Four 27. The last issue of the 98 reboot I was missing for a full run from 290 on.
FF Lost Adventure one shot by Lee and Kirby.
Some old Fantastic Force issues just to read.
Firestorm 38-40 from the 80s.
Flash. 16 issues from all over the Wally West run. This is the next big series I'm trying to get a complete run of. I'm about halfway there.
ForceWorks. Like the FanForce, I got some issues to read.
Ghost Rider 01 LS as well as the Danny Ketch series from a couple years ago. And a one shot from the 90s. Now I can focus on the original 70s series and have ALL things GR. Gotham Underground 8. Finishing that series.
Green Arrow Black Canary 8. Finishing that series.
A few issues of the 90s Green Lantern series. Like the Flash, my next focus.
Hercules 129,131,132, 135.I stopped with 129 and it only went to 141 so now I'm looking to finish that run.
Heroes Reborn one shots. All of them but Doom! For a cheap read.
Hulk. Various issues I was missing including 218 and 226 and 34(finally!) of the Bruce Jones run. Missing about a dozen issues from 200 on. Also a couple recent oneshots and a couple Rampaging Hulk issues.
Huntress Year One 1,2. Finished that LS.
IronFist and Wolverine 1. To read.
Iron Man Legacy of Doom LS, IM The End one shot and IM annual
Ka-Zar 20. Last issue of the series.
Manhunter 1. First issue of the Kate Spencer series.
Moon Knight ShangChi one shot from the 90s.
Some issues and oneshots of Ms. Marvel. Working on that entire run but I'm not there yet.
Mythos: Capt. America. One shot
New Warriors 61 to complete my run on the original series! And also 0-10 of the 99 series as well. I just need the 'reality tv' LS from just before Civil War to have ALL NW issues ever.
Nightcrawler 11. Only need one more issue to have that whole series.
Nightwing 2,6,14, and 15. Only missing issue 1 to have a full run!
Erik Larsen's Nova series from 98 2-5,7. Only missing two issues now.
100 Greatest Marvels LS 1-5.
Punisher. Found issue 10 from the 96 series and 28 from the Marvel Knights series.and 1-4 of the newest WarZone LS. I'm getting so close. And fuck FrankenCastle.
Raven 4. Finished that LS.
Robin. Half dozen issues between 44 and 73. Only need about a dozen issues to have that run completed.
Runaways. Found missing four issues of the second series to finish that run finally.
SheHulk II. 18 random issues and I'm getting close to finishing that series which I started hunting on a whim just a couple months ago when I found some cheap issues on FCBD.
Slingers 0.
Spectcular Spidey 26 from 1979.
A bunch of Action, Adventures of, and Superman issues. 26 in all from the various Superbooks.
AllStar Superman 1-12. Complete Run.
Thor 372, 375, 401, 406, 409, 417 And from the 98 reboot 9, 20,22, 49 for a FULL RUN of that series and a run from before 400 on the other one.
Thunderstrike 15-17,20,21. Almost done with that series.
Thunderbolts. Found missinf four issues for a FULL RUN on that series as well as a one shot from the late 90s. The only issues I'm missing now are when the book turned into Fight Club for villains from 76-81 and then was promptly cancelled. The completist in me will pick them up eventually but its not a priority.
Some old Wolverine issues and one shots and a couple X-Men books including Uncanny 166 to fill a hole.
I've almost reached 30,000 issues in my collection.

Re: Big score........
HAHAHAHAHAHA! I got a short box of comics (with more boxes on the way) with a ton of old comics from the 70s! Here's what was in the first box.
Aquaman and Adventure Comics feat. Aquaman. Over 20 issues including the one where Black Manta killed Aquaman's baby. I had no idea Aqua was at one point carrying two titles.
Black Goliath 1-5. The complete series. Bill Foster's midriff baring costume was so flaming.
Capt. Marvel. Basically the entire series from issue 26 up to the finale in issue 62. But also the FIRST issue. Pretty fuckin' cool.
Challengers of the Unknown 81-87. Which was the end run of the series.
Couple of 100 page giant issues of Detective.
Freedom Fighters 1-8, 12, and 15. Minus a couple issues, the complete series.
Justice, Inc. 1-4 from DC.
Joker 1-9! Batman's archfoe. A complete run! Totally cool.
John Carter #1. By Wolfman, Gil Kane and Dave Cockrum. Sweet.
Karate Kid 11 and 12. Starring the Legion guy (not Ralph Macchio)
ManBat 1 and 2. Another Batfoe and his own title.
Marvel Presents:Guardians of the Galaxy 3-12. Basically their first series.
Marvel Premier. Various issues with Iron Fist, Ant-Man, Black Panther and Monark Starstalker!! That last one is cool because DnA ressurected his obscureness in Nova last year.
Marvel Spotlight. Various issues including the first four which picked up where Capt. Marvel's solo title left off.
MetalMen 45-52. Like the Challengers above, also the end run of the series.
MoonKnight 1. Already had it, but still cool.
Son of Satan 1-8. Complete run of Daimon Hellstrom's first solo title.
Sandman 2-6. From DC.
Spider-Woman 1-6 as well as a few more issues.
And lastly Warlock, which looks like it got canceled with issue 8 and then brought back a couple years later with issue 9. Also some Strange Tales feat. Warlock as well.
I've only flipped thru a couple issues and it looks like reading the Bullpens and old ads is going to be as much fun as reading the actual stories. I'm super excited.
As the other boxes arrive I'll tell what's in 'em. I know I've got some Miller Daredevil and old X-Men coming, as well as complete Iron Fist, Champions, and Nova runs and also a TON of Legion stuff from the 70s, 80s and beyond.

Re: Big score........
Second box arrived today. Weird because he sent me at least 5 shortboxes, but they seem to be coming one at a time. At any rate, here's what the second box had.
Amazing Spidey. 35 issues. The earliest being 55-57 then jumping forward to 200. Then a bunch of the McFarlane issues, then jumping ahead to the 360s and randomly thru to 432.
Avengers 200 and 258.
A few Batman issues I already had.
Brave and the Bold 196. Batman and Ragman (which will make sense down the list).
Daredevil 176 and 256. Which bummed me out because I thought it was 176 THRU 256.
Dazzler 1. Heh.
Fantastic Four 200. They always fight Doom in the anniversary issues, don't they.
A bunch of ForceWorks issues.
Hulk 128 and 178. I think its ironic that because I have all but a dozen or so issues after the Wolverine issues, I get an issue that's a couple before the Wolverine issues.
Ka-Zar 1-11 from '96.
Martian Manhunter 0-36 from the '99 series. A complete run.
Orion 1-25 from '99. Also a complete run.
Ragman 1-4 from the 70s as well as two mini series from the 90s.
Silver Surfer 1. The Lee/Byrne version from '82.
Watchmen 10. Ironically, I think this is the first floppy issue of Watchmen I've owned. I have more than one copy of the TPB, but I've never had any of the single issues in my collection until now.
Zero Hour 4-0. Its funny how this series has been rendered irrelevant over time.
X-Men/Teen Titans. I already have several copies of this, but its still awesome to see Deathstroke kick the X-Mens asses.
Marvel TeamUp annual 1. First time Spidey and the X-men teamed up?
Marvel Two-in-one annual 2. The end of Starlin's magnum opus of Warlock and Thanos. See, sales weren't kind to ol' Warlock back in the day. He got his own series which got cancelled by issue 8. Then the cliffhanger ending of that storyline got resolved in Hulk, before he got another shot in Strange Tales and then got back his own title with issue 9 a couple years later. But then that series again got cancelled at issue 15 and the story was finished here of all places. Thanos was turned to stone and Warlock died in this annual. Neither would be seen again until the Surfer series in the 90s leading up to the Infinity Gauntlet trilogy.
Tales to Astonish 68. Holy crap this issue is old. June 65. Not my oldest comic, but damn close.
So that's what was in box 2. I'm still reading the stuff I got at ComicCon. Because I insist on reading everything I buy, its interesting that I'm plodding through Jay Faerber's weak New Warriors revival from 99 when I've got classic Jim Starlin sitting at the foot of the bed. All in good time. All in good time.

Re: Big score........
MWAHAHAHAH! Box 3 arrived today. I am SQUEEing like a girl at Biever concert. Here's what was in the box.
Hulk 340(which, yes, is the McFarlane Hulk/Wolvie issue) 341, 353, 354, and 398
Almost EVERY issue of New Mutants including annuals. Missing 83,87, 90 and 99. So yeah I don't have Cables first appearance, but I DO have Deadpools. But it gets even better...
Wolverine 1-4. Yeah. The Miller/Claremont limited series. Mint fuckin' condition. And it gets even better better...
Uncanny X-Men 101. The first Phoenix issue. 141. The Days of Future Past issue (probably the most famous X-Men cover ever). And then issues 147-158.
The sound you are hearing is me blowing a load of happy everywhere. I paid roughly a $1.20 for each issue.

Even I have the first Deadpool, and I fucking loathe Deadpool. Nothing against your new BFF, but I really hate that character and would give up my entire run of Hero for Hire/Power Man/Power Man & Iron Fist for him to be stepped on by Galactus.

Re: Big score........
I already had a copy also (hell, I might have two, I dunno) but I was more elated by the fact that issue now commands like $50 because of dipshit's inexplicable surge in popularity. I could flip it and wind up with 50 books I don't have for the paltry investment of a buck-anna-quarter.
And if you truly do have a complete run of H4H/PM&IF, I'm jealous.

Nowhere near complete. Just cherished.
But I'd still trade it to kill off Deadpool permanently.

Re: Big score........
That one is on my to-do list. Whoever thought of combining those two into one series was a genius. It was blaxploitation and kung-fuxploitation all rolled into one awesome comic.

Re: Big score........
Got three more shortboxes today. They had quite a variety in them.
Box 1 had an almost complete run of Cable. It stopped at 93 and the series went to 107, but otherwise its was missing maybe 8 issues. Its not like I'm a HUGE Cable fan, but for this price, it'll be an interesting read.
Box 2 was a sweet run. Complete runs of Marvel series' from the early and mid 70s. Champions 1-17, Inhumans 1-12, Iron Fist 1-15, Ms. Marvel 1-23, Nova 1-25, and also a bunch of Machine Man issues.
Box 3 had a variety of stuff.
First two issues of an old Charlston series called Doomsday+1 from 1975. Its about four survivors after some global calamity.
Firestorm 1. First issue.
Green Lantern/Green Arrow 86-89. The issues immediately following Roy's drug use issue.
Justice League 107.
Mister Miracle 15 and 18.
New Gods 2 and 10.
OMAC 7 and 8. All of these old Kirby books are a hoot. The guy was like a volcano of new ideas.
1st issue of Warlord. Its actually issue 8 so I have to do some research to see what that series was.
And a bunch of Legion of SuperHeroes series. LOSH, Legionnaires, Legion Lost, Legion Worlds, and The Legion series from 2001.
Valor, a Legion spinoff from the 90s. Not a full run but most of them.
I think there's one more box coming with more LoSH stuff in it.

Valor, a Legion spinoff from the 90s. Not a full run but most of them.
I think there's one more box coming with more LoSH stuff in it.

Re: Big score........
The final 7th box arrived yesterday. As I thought, it had roughly the last 20 issues of the original LoSH series. All of the '84 series. All of the '90 series. ironically I've never been a fan of the Legion and now I have a HUGE uninterrupted run of their adventures. From like '82 up through 2004, I have pretty much all of them.
------------------------
Also, the other day I was at a garage/estate sale and found three random old issues. One was Batman 207, one was JLA 47, and the last was Action Comics something or other.
The Action Comics was about the funniest, most absurd story I have ever read. This SpaceCop was chasing some Ne'erdowell guy and both of them got obliterated, leaving only their Costumes behind. naturally the costumes become sentient with the personalities of the two men. So the "evil" Costume is looking for someone to wear it and decides the best course of action is to TAKE OUT AN AD in the Daily Planet!! So it bursts into Perry White's office and says "I need an ad placed!" (this is just a pair of longjohns, mind you). Perry, says he doesn't believe the EMPTY COSTUME IN FRONT OF HIM and tells Clark to put it on. Clark then taken over by the evil entity in the costume and then has to put on the "good" costume over the bad costume to cancel them out or some shit. but really, the part I spit milk at was the costume wanting to place an ad to find someone to wear it.
God, the Silver Age was awesome.

Re: Big score........
Not a "big" score perse, but I was in a Comic Shop across the river I don't normally go to and found some stuff in their 50 cent boxes.
I found the first two issues of Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers I was missing.
Mighty Avengers 31, so now I have a full run of that series.
Spider-Woman 4 from last year, which finishes that series.
Some old Flash issues from the early 90s.
And random issues of series like Black Panther, War Machine, Wolverine, Runaways, and Skarr that I needed to fill holes.
All told I got 25 books.

Re: Big score........
They had a rinky dink ComicCon in Illinois yesterday. It was hardly even advertised, so I figured they wouldn't have anything and I stop by for a half hour or so. I ended up spending 4 hours going through just about every vendor's cheap bins. Some were a dollar, and some were as low as a quarter. I got over 300 books and spent $235! here's what I got
I got first issues of many new series that came out in the last year or so. Adam, Legend of Blue Marvel, Nomad, Prince of Power, Steve Rogers Super Soldier, Taskmaster, and Zatanna were some of them.
Alpha Flight 20(from the '96 series). Last issue of the series. Finally finished off that series. Now I just need the 12 issue series from 2004 and I have every AF ever. COMPLETED.
Agents of Atlas. I got a couple issues of their previous 11 issue series, and two from their most recent 5 issue, as well as both the vs X-men and 2 of the 4 vs. Avengers minis. I'm amazed this cockroach of a team keeps getting books.
Amazing Fantasy 13-16. Almost done with that run, just need 5-8. Also, issue 16 is the first appearance of Amadeus Cho, so yay!
Avengers/Thunderbolts 3. Finished that series.
Avengers/Invaders 10. Only a couple from that one being done.
Batgirl 11 from the current series.
Batman: Odyssey 1, 2. Neal Adams new batbook.
Detective 864-868. Almost caught back up with that.
Batman Widening Gyre 6. The end of the Kevin Smith series.
Black Widow. Got the complete series of 'Thing They Say About Her' and a few issues from her new series which ends next month with issue 8.
Birds of Prey 1. I think its from the very first series ever. Not bad for 50 cents.
Cable. I got 7 issues from the latest 'Cable and the baby' series. So only 11 more for a full run. I love buying complete series at a fraction of the price.
Captain America 443. YES! I was missing ONE issue from a having a full run from 282 on. And I found it.
Capt. America Theater of War. I found a couple of the one shots I was missing.
Dark Reign. I found more issue from all those mini series. including Young Avengers, Made Men, and Savage She-Hulks.
Deathlok 1-3 from the '99 series.
Doomwar 1, 3 from the recetn Black Panther mini.
Eternals, every issue except two of them from the recent series. And the Annual to boot.
Fables 57.
Fantastic Four. A half dozen issues between 251 and 290. working backwards now. And a Cosmic FF one shot from last year.
Flash. Made a HUGE dent in my complete run. 30 issues between 2 and 159. I only need 28 more issues to have a complete run on that series. I also bought a few random issues from the first series that had cool covers.
Gotham Central 4.
Green Lantern. A dozen issues. Nowhere near as complete as the Flash run, but can start focusing on that one more.
Guardians of the Galaxy 11. I dropped the series for ONE issue and it took me this long to find it for a full run. COMPLETED.
Incredible Hercules. Found seven issues of the end of the run. Only need three more. Plus a Herc vs. Amazing Spidey oneshot.
Hulk. Found some Hulk and Incredible Hulk issues from after I dropped it because of that stupid RedHulk Bullshit.
Iron Man 64. YES! FINALLY finished the Heroes Reborn series that ended with DisAssembled. COMPLETED!! Whoohoo!
Found 13 issues oF JLA, JLE and JLI from the early 90s. I need less than 50 issues between all three series to have full runs.
Joker's Asylum II MadHatter, KillerCroc, and Clayface.
Magneto Rex and Magneto: Dark Seduction. Apparently, Mags here was miniseries funguy back in the late 90s. I got a couple issues of each series.
Magog 8.
Manhunter 10, 16. Only a dozen more issues for a complete run.
Nova 6. Of the short lived Erik Larsen series. Now I just need the first issue.
Punisher Holiday Special 1, 2. My quest for complete Frank continues.
Quicksilver 12, 13. Only three more issues for a full run.
Robin 46, 61. Only seven issues away from a full run. oooh, so close.
Runaways 8.
SheHulk. Got five more issues. leaving only five before I'm done. Not bad considering I only decided to get this series at SDCC. I also got a Cosmic She-Hulk one shot.
Shield 10. Final issue.
Simon Dark 6, 8. Only need the first five now.
Slingers 1. The Dusk cover.
Spider-Man. I made huge dent in my Spidey collection that I had been putting off. I got some early issues of PPSSM from the 70's. I made a huge dent in my Adj-less Spider-Man run, as well as it's replacement series PeterParker, Spider-Man. And a fe issues of Sensational for cheap. And I broke down, paid a little extra, and got some Amazing issues from that difficult 2nd series. All told, I got over 50 Spidey books. AND I'm only SIX issues away from having a full Amazing Spidey run from 267 on.
Supergirl. Fromthe Peter David series I got 15 issues.
Superman. A couple older Action Comics issues and the finale to War of Superman. Not a big Superman day.
SuperVillain Team Up 5. Finally finished this mini.
S.W.O.R.D. 4
Thor. A couple old Simonson issues.
Transformers:War Within 4, 6. You've no idea how elusive these three series are to find.
Wolverine. Seven random issues from his first series between 101 and 153. Three oneshots (Revolver, Switchback, and Mr. X) and Manifest Destiny 1.
Wolverine Origins. 10 issues between 34and 48. Which leaves only 9 issues for a full run. I'm so glad I'm buying these for 50 cents (some for a quarter!) I would never pay full price for this shitty series.
Wolverine Weapon X. Now that the series has ended, I am buying all the issues I missed/skipped. And now I only need one more.
Dark X-Men 3, 4, and 5. Finished that mini.
And some assorted X-Men books including X-Men Manifest Destiny:Nightcrawler, and the last issue of Young X-Men I needed.
I got first issues of many new series that came out in the last year or so. Adam, Legend of Blue Marvel, Nomad, Prince of Power, Steve Rogers Super Soldier, Taskmaster, and Zatanna were some of them.

Especially that fourth one, since it only exists in Simon Furman's mind and our imaginations. Damn, I wish IDW would let Furman and Wildman finish the fucking story.Rollo Tomassi wrote:Transformers:War Within 4, 6. You've no idea how elusive these three series are to find.

Re: Big score........
Got a shipment from newkadia today. First off it had Atomic Robo #1 in it, but when I opened the bag to actually look at it, I doscovered it was third printing. Dammit. There was no mention of that in the description.
Amazing Spidey 416. Which brings the total down to 5 issue I need to have a full run from 267 on.
Some John Byrne FF issues. I now have a full run from 271 on.
Some Jonah Hex issues, including the first appearance of Talulah Black.
Some Justice League Intl. issues. And a JLA issue by mistake.
And some random Punisher Bookshelf/Presitige Format books I got for about a buck each. Also some of the Back to School issues, and a finally a Graphic Novel co-starring the Black Widow I got for $6.
Which leaves my Punisher list looking like this: Assassins Guild GN, Intruder GN, Kingdom Gone GN, Holiday Special 3, Empty Quarter oneshot, Punisher Invades The Nam (which reprints the final issues of The 'Nam series including the never released final issue), the five issue vs. Bulleye series, the vs Daredevil oneshot from 2000, Year One issues 2, 3, and 4, the Ennis/Dillon War Zone series issue 5, issues 11 and 16 from the '95 series, and issues 13 thru 16 from that FrankenCastle bullshit. Then I only need to locate those early B/W magazine appearances (which I've read in the Essential Punisher book and they fuckin' kick ass.) and mayhaps his super early appearances in ASM if I can afford them.
