Really bad mmusic from the mid to late 90's

uh, y'know, the sounds that sound good together... sometimes... and sometimes sounds like the disgusting "squish squish" sound Slicker's mom makes whenever she walks

There were three idiots in 90s music who always bugged me. Not because they were disposable pap, but because they thought they were more than they really were.

1) Kurt Cobain. Yeah, I said it. The guy made some great music, but spokesman for my generation? WTF? If the idiot hadn't blown his head off, he'd be about as fondly remembered as Eddie Vedder. The best thing he did was discover Dave Grohl, who is, sorry, Nirvana fans, a million times better.
Totally agree, except I never really like his music that much. I never voted for him as spokesman. The first time Nirvana was on SNL, we were watching in my friend's college dorm room. After a few minutes, his roommate (who played guitar) said "Cobain isn't playing. His fingers don't match the chords." I remember Eddie Vedder not from Pearl Jam, but from Weird Al's song "My Baby's In Love With Eddie Vedder".

I tried to like Nickleback, but just couldn't get into them.

i call shenanigans on that one. cobain played a righty guitar left-handed before raking in the dough and being able to afford lefty guitars, so none of the chords would match up to what the roommate (who ostensibly didn't change the face of music) knew.

while i completely agree that dave grohl is an infinitely better musician in almost every way, cobain had talent and a certain charisma that really resonated with most of our generation at the time. i'm not gong to apologize for being a nirvana fan. they DID rock.

I never said I wasn't a fan. I just said he was overrated. Very overrated. I'm surprised no one in our age group has created a religion about Cobain yet.

The other two, well, I'll say I'm not a fan. Though there are a small handful of tracks by each that I like.

Honestly, I just figured Cobain was too wasted to play on live TV that night in 1991...which technically doesn't fit with this thread title, so nevermind. (pun intended)

It seems that everyone who dies or goes crazy young gets a freakin' altar built for them, no matter how good they were (Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Syd Barrett, Jim Morrison, etc.). Sure, he was good, and maybe I'm just too young to really grasp the impact of his stuff, but Cobain is vastly overrated (and Krist always seems like a total douche in Nirvana-era interviews).

As for Nickelback, I liked their first song when I was around 11, but the rest of their shit is just terrible. I hate that kind of music (see Hinder for more of the same shit).
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Half of the people from our generation who would are either too stoned. The other half believe it is illegal to base a religion on anyone who has been with Courtney Love.

Fuck Nickleback.

And Nirvana's Unplugged in New York is one of the rock albums that everyone should own.

Okay, first thing, Scorsese's got one now.

Secondly, I think "Lose Yourself" is one of Eminem's better works. I thought it was better than the other songs from that year. If you really want to see an unjust Oscar, see "Hard Out Here For A Pimp" by Three 6 Mafia. But then again, the other songs that year sucked too.
Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun.

Hey, I don't have the box or the 1-disc version, but I have all of the albums Nirvana released, including the greatest hits CD with one new song. And I'm only missing one Foo Fighters album that I've been intending to get for a while and just never have.

That's hilarious ! :D I don't think I remember ever hearing that song "Someday," that's funny.

I like that song Animals from the new one as well as Side of a Bullet where they used a Dimebag solo in tribute to him (the song is about his murder).

It's hilarious that you guys are calling for a moratorium on Nickelback while discussing Eminem as well as Nirvana...I have Cunt Cobain's voice and that whole "grunge" thing (save for the first Pearl Jam record). The best meal that guy ever ate was a shotgun blast.

Meal not Metal

Oddly enough, I also find myself enjoying some Eminem tunes even though I hate the guy's personality. Kind of a Guilty Pleasure, I guess ?

When I saw the title of this topic, my uterus had a seizure. I LOVE 90's shit.

I consider myself to be knowledgeable, if not, quite knowledgeable of 90's music. Even though I was in elementary and middle school in the 90's, the music was quality.

And I wracked my brain trying to think of bad music that came out of the 90's. And it proved to be one hell of a difficult task.

When I think of 90's, I think of Pavement, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Dinosaur Jr., Screaming Trees, Garbage, Spin Doctors, Sonic Youth, The Breeders, Spacehog, Candlebox, Soul Coughing, Sponge, Tripping Daisy, Smashing Pumpkins, Third Eye Blind, all of the fucking AWESOME music that has gathered no dust in my music collection. Matter of fact, I just listened to Pavement for a couple hours yesterday. Stephen Malkmus is a fucking cool dude.

Man, even C+C Music Factory (that song "Everybody Dance Now!") fucking rules. All those fucking dance classics. "What Is Love?" by Haddaway. I'm not gonna lie, I have a few collections of Dance comps. Fuckin' Ace Of Base and The Cardigans "Lovefool." That is some quality fuckin songs right there.

It's really, really fucking hard to think of a song that sucks. Even the chicks from Hanson with their "Mmmbop," that shit was catchy. And the Macarena? Fuck dude, I still party to that shit. During a full moon, I like to get naked and vacuum my kitchen to Tori Amos.

All I can think of is that song Celine Dion did from Titanic. That "My Heart Will Go On" shit. Oh god, that fucking trash. That song wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't play it so fucking much. But it still sucked.

Gwen Stefani is the only rotten cunt to sour the 90's. And her cunt is still fucking rotting right now. Her pro-whore hit "What Chu Waiting For" or whatever the fuck it was called made me vomit with my mouth in my underpants. Her forced vibrato makes me feel nauseous. She can bleach her hair all she wants, but she still looks extremely dirty, ike a shiny condom wrapper in the gutter after it has just rained. Yeah it's pretty, and yeah it's shiny, but it's gross and you definitely shouldn't touch it. Nothing good can come of it.

Oh wait, now it's coming back to me, Blink 182. Those motherfuckers SUCKED. I fucking hated them. Oh and MxPx. Jesus fucking christ they sucked even worse than Blink 182. And Everclear. They were like the Nickelback of the 90's. I remember my friend bought an Everclear cd, and I was like, "You bought that? Man, I don't even know you anymore."

In my opinion, there were much more good songs than there was bad songs in the 90's. For every bad song in the 90's, there were like 500 good songs.

Oh man, remember Toad The Wet Sprocket? Silverchair? Collective Soul? White Zombie? Shit. The 90's fucking ruled.
