While I think eventually the floppies will become a thing of the past, I don’t think it will happen anytime remotely soon. And it won’t be an abrupt cut-off. Like one month, Marvel is producing 50-100 comics a month, and the next month, bubkes.
They’ll fall of slowly, and there will be several changes to what defines ‘monthly’ issues over time (like ‘core’ TPBs that collect everything from that month.) before they give it up completely.

But by the time that happens we will be in our 70s. Well, you will be. You ancient fuck.  >:)

So, I just remembered I went to a dealer show back in late December when the site was down and didn’t put the list on here.
I’m not gonna bore you that one but I didn’t even fill up my usual longbox and went to a second guy’s table who had a lot of rarer and variant books that he was normally selling for $5-12 bucks each on sale for $2 a piece.

one of the things I DIDNT get was he had an almost complete run of ALL the Star Wars action figure variant covers. I just couldn’t pull the trigger because it would’ve been like an extra $100 dollars. But me and another guy who was going thru the boxes at the same time were both wincing with regret because I doubt I’ll ever see that collection gift wrapped like that again. Sad face.

Hurtful. True though. I bought as many of the figure covers as I could, until they were almost done the ESB figure line which dovetailed nicely with me getting off the SW comic bandwagon. I paid up to $10 each for a bunch of them, as they came out. No way I'll get my money back out of those.

Another dealer show this weekend. Hardly anything at all. Only came away with 50 books, and I grabbed a run of Rising Stars at the end just to bump it and get the 50 for $20. Then i found an additional 15 books at a different table for $1 each.
Here’s what I got.

DMZ 66. Only missing 6 more issues.
Doom Patrol 16. 1 more issue to go from the ‘01 series.
First Strike 3-6. The Hasbro Event. I think I got some of the TF oneshots before, but never bothered with the main series. Or maybe I did and can’t remember. I know I haven’t read any of it.
Hulk Smash Avengers 2. Still need 1,3, and 4 from the mini.
A couple Powers issues.
Rising Stars 1-12. The J.Michael Straczynski series from ‘99
Agents of SHIELD 6,7. Still need 2-4,8-10 from the ‘16 series.
A Star Wars book.
Terra Onscura Vol 2, 4. Kinda beat up copy. Left it in my list to find a better one.
Who’s Who 1-3,5. Had these. Actually needed the ‘87 update series.
And 15 various DC books. Finished Green Lantern Corps, The Ray, and almost finished JLDark.

At the other table I got
Batman&Robin 9. Just need issue 1 and Annual 1.
Batman/Superman 30 finished the series.
Deathstroke 2,8,11,16 and both Annuals. Just need 1 and 9 from the ‘14 series.
Iron Man 146. Apart from issues 118, 128, a couple Infamous Iron Doom issues and a couple recent relaunch issues, I have every Iron Man from 98 on.
X-Men’92 3,4,6,8. Just need issue 10 to finish the series.

There’s another larger show on the 30th, and since I didn’t drop any money at this one, I’ll have more to spend at the next one.

Turns out there were TWO competing conventions this weekend. One was a Saturday only event, and the other across the river is a two day, and you gotta pay a $10 door fee. So I went to the free show today and will probably hit up the other tomorrow. Didn’t get much, but here’s what I found.

First table. $1 each, but ended up 26 books for $20.

Arkham Unhinged 18. Six issues left to find.
Dr. Strange; What is it that Disturbs you, Stephen? A oneshot/ogn from the 80s/90s that I had no idea existed. But I knew I didn’t have it. Cool.
Iron Fist 2. Finished the ‘96 2 issue series. I erroneously thought I had this for a long time, so I was annoyed when I had to ‘re-add’ it to my list.
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 1. Weird to find an expensive book in the $1 box, but not passing it up.
Rocketeer at War 1. One more issue to find.
Superman Annual 1. From 1987. Strange that Supes had no Annuals before 1987?
Superman/Wonder Woman; Whom Gods Destroy 1. Finished this Prestige mini.
The rest were Nu52 and Rebirth DC books. 19 of them.

The second table I found 15 for $15.

Batman Confidential 43. Only need 47,48,and 50.
Spectacular Spider-Girl 4.
Weapon H 1. Variant cover. I detest that this is a thing. Wolverine + Hulk is such a stupid fanboy idea. Shame on you, Marvel.
The other 12 books were Nu52 stuff. I completed runs of Batwing, Blue Beetle, Capt Atom, Green Arrow and all but two issues from finishing Red Hood/Outlaws.
Of the NU52 titles, the only ones I have significantly large runs left to fill are Batman, Batgirl, and Flash.

Also, since I spent wayyyy less than I anticipated, I bought a couple loose Lego figures. Hellboy, Deadpool, and Sonic the Hedgehog. I don’t know where these come from, because they’d have like 20 of each one.

A much better haul from the second convention today. Paid $1 for every book, except the final table where I got 15 books for $2 each.
Ended up with 151 books for $166. Plus 2 Stormtroopers. Here’s what I got.

First Table(okay so, the first table and the second table got slid together in my bag and not sure which was from what, but I split them into non-DC52 and DC52 amd it worked out numbers wise)

Cable/X-Force 4. So I’d been looking for this issue for awhile. Then my buddy out in Cali sent me a full run of the series, so technically I had the issue. But then I just had almost two full runs of the series except for one book. Now I have 2 full runs.
Cable 156. Six issues to go.
Dr Strange 386. Just need 385 and 387.
Falcon 7. Between this table and two of the others, I’m only missing issue 5. Which now I’m annoyed because there was an issue 5, but I thought I had grabbed it at the other table and didn’t want doubles.
Green Lantern/Green Arrow 2. Reprint mini from 1983 of O’Neil and Adams Hard Traveling Heroes saga from the 70’s.
Green Lantern Corps 206,208,210. Only 4 issues left from when the original GL book changed its name to GL Corps back in the 80s.
GL 80 Page Giant 3. From 2000.
Iron Man 28. Finished Gillen’s run.
Uncanny Inhumans 7. Finished the series.
Gambit 17. Just need 18, 19, and the 1/2 issue from the 1999 series.
Miracleman 2. From the truncated Gaian/Buckingham run.
Ms. Marvel 5,6,9,14-27. Almost the entire bulk of the series I was missing. Only three issues left.
Multiple Man 1-3. Just need 4 and 5 from the recent mini.
Old Man Logan 7,8,10.
Thunderbolts 8. Finished the Daniel Way run.
Uncanny X-Force 7. Just need issue 11 and the Remender run will be complete.
X-Men;Wakanda Forever. Scottie Young variant cover.

Table 2
DC Nu52 stuff. Finished Green Lantern:New Guardians. Only missing one issue of Lobo. Finished King’s Omega Men run. Finished Sinestro. Finished Action. Almost finished Superman. Almost finished Superman:Lois and Clark.

Third Table
Amazing Spidey 434 and Sensational Spidey 27. The Identity Crisis covers that had Spidey on them and not Prodigy, Riccochet, etc. “Finished” Sensational.
Some old Justice League of America issues from the early 80s. 198,199,201-203.
Some old Action Comics from around the same time.
What If? 25. From the ‘77 series.
What If? 71, 102, 103, and 106 from the ‘89 run. Only missing 105 and 108, and the latter is a HTF issue because it’s the first appearance of Peter’s daughter Spider-Girl.

Table 4 The big one. Dropped $70 here.

Mighty Capt Marvel 7. Just need issue 128 now.
Dr Strange:Damnation 4. Still need 3 and 5.
Domino 5.
Exiles 5-8. From the newest series.
Fables 48, 50, 65, 66, 70, 143.
Falcon 1 and 4. Thought 1 was an Iron Man issue because it was one of those lenticular Legacy covers. Needed issue 5. They had it. Didn’t grab it.
Fantastic Four 1. The Artgerm variant of the Thing.
Green Lantern 2. The newest Morrison series.
Guardians of Infinity 5. Still need issue 6.
Illuminati 5. Finished the series.
Iron Man 596. Just need 595, 3 older issues(118, 128, 145) and a couple Iron Doom issues and I’ll have every IM from issue 97 up.
Legionnaires 34, 44, 58, 61, 71. Only six issues to go.
Luke Cage 168.
Marvel2 in 1 8. All caught up. Did this series end? I haven’t got a new issue in awhile now that I think about it.
Miracleman 5, 11, and issue 6 from the second series. Only a couple more to go.
Nick Fury 2. Finished the recent Robinson series.
Sentry 3-5. Finished the recent mini. I think. Might be missing issue 2.
Solo 3. Finished the mini.
Superman:Metropolis 12. Finished the 2003 maxiseries.
Terra Obscura 2.
Thief of Thieves 26, 32.
Thor 11, 12. The correct ones this time. Finished the Fraction run. Still need issue 9 from Aaron’s first series and I’ll have every Thor from 337 on.
Thunderbolts 4. The most recent series. Finished.
Tom Strong 26-28. I had 27 on my list twice. Realized it was a typo, so I grabbed the issue on either side to be safe. Just need 35 to finish the run.
All New X-Men 5. Finished the series.

And 24 Nu52 books. Finished Bloodlines. Finished Constantine. 3 issues away from finishing Nightwing. 1 left for Superboy. 1 left for Superman. 2 left for Swamp Thing. 1 left for the second Teen Titans run. And 1 left for Wonder Woman.

The Final Table

Ant-Man/Wasp 3. Finished the mini.
Defenders 8. Finished Bendis’ run.
Falcon 8. Missing issue 5. (Sigh)
Gamora 5. Missing issue 2.
Iceman 8-10. Finished the series.
Iron Fist 74, 75, 77. Just need 2-4 and I’ll have every Iron Fist comic. Except that Digital only sequel to Iron Fists that Kaare did.
Astonishing X-Men 7, 8, 12. Finished the series.
And a couple Catwoman issues and the Lenticular Detective Comics Future’s End issue.

I am pleased with my haul.

Next score will probably be FCBD.

FCBD 2019!

Hit up three shops.
First stop, I filled up a short box for $50. The box was one of those fancy printed boxes. I picked the Deadpool one, so basically I was getting a sweet free box in addition to the comics I crammed inside it.
Here’s what I got.

Astro City 3, 8. Not sure how many AC series there have been. These are from the 2013 Vertigo series. EDIT. Looked up all the various AC series, minis, oneshots, etc and added to them to my list. Turns out I have a few of them from random gathering over the years.
Detective 568.
Exiles 4, 9, 10. The newest series. Just need 2,3,11, and 12.
Flash 329, 333, 338, 342, 343.
Green Arrow. The recently ended Rebirth series. Found every issue except 1,2,32, and 49. Boom.
Injustice Year Two 2-4.
JLA:Island of Dr Moreau. Prestige oneshot.
Joe the Barbarian 2-8. Almost all of Grant Morrison’s Vertigo series. Need issue 1.
Ms Marvel 28, 30, 32. Finished her recently finished second series. And by her I mean Kamala.
Nova 5,7, and 8. Nova 2-7. All of his two most recent series I was missing except for issue 6.
Ben Reilly, Scarlet Spider 4. Just need issue 1.
The Spirit 6. From the newest Dynamite series.
Suicide Squad. The newest Rebirth ongoing. Every issue between 1 and 48 except 1 and 26. It’s on issue 50, so...Boom. EDIT 50 was the final issue I guess, so only missing four issues after not having any before today. Still Boom.
Superman 401, 403, 405, Annual 12. From the early 80s.
Swords of Sorrow 6. I had to check whether this was really good art or a photo. Turns out it’s one of the rarer variant covers. Nice.
Thor Annual 10 and 12. Already had them.
Transformers Preview from Dreamwave.
TF Best of UK;Time Wars 1.
Unlimited Access 1-4. Aaahhahahahahahah!! The Marvel vs DC guy got TWO mini series. Two! This was the second one.
Weapon H 2-5, 7-10, 12. Already had 6 because it was the FF variant cover by J.Scott Campbell. So just need issue 11.
Werewolf By Night 1. The Strange Tales miniseries.
Who’s Who Update ‘87 1-5 and Update ‘88 3. Finished both Updates and therefore the entire Who’s Who series. Except for the loose leaf 3-hole punch bullshit from the late 80’s.
X 24. Final issue of the Dark Horse relaunch.

They also had a buy 2, get 1 free on more current issues, so I found a Deathstroke variant I had been missing, the IDW Marvel Action Black Panther 1, Star Wars Galaxy 1, and some issues of Domino.

The second store I found 50 books in the 50 cent boxes. Mostly DC Rebirth and Nu52 stuff.

Detective 943
Dark Knight III 2,3
Batwoman 12, 13
Blue Beetle 17
Brave and the Bold 1,3,4
Hawkman 3
JLA 4,15, 19, 21-24, 29, Ann 1
Justice League 36, 37
JL Odyssey 2
JL Darkseid War: Superman
Mr Miracle 11
Nightwing 1, 26, 27
Nightwing New World Order 6
Robin Rises Alpha
New Suicide Squad 13
Suicide Squad War Crimes oneshot
Action 957, 963, 965, 985, 986
Teen Titans Ann 1
Titans 5, 24
Wonder Woman 17, 25-27.

And, also a great find; so last year this other shop had the 4 Artgerm variant cover of Fantastic Four 1 and offered to sell me the set for $30. I told them that was a little rich for my blood and said no. On the drive home, I realized the cover price for said issue was $5.99 per book, so I would’ve been paying barely over cover for 4 really nice variants. So I’ve been regretting it ever since. One year later, these guys had the same four covers on the wall. I asked how much for the set.
He says $15.
Sweet.

The third store didn’t have much. I found two Detective variant covers I’d been looking for and the Annual. I got duplicates of the Avengers and Spidey FCBDs.

First off, sad news. One of the LCS across the river went out of business last week. It’s the first place I went every year for FCBD. They had a going out of business sale with HUGE discounts on everything last Saturday...AND I MISSED IT COMPLETELY. So that is doubly sad.

Second, dealer show today. Filled up my usual long box for $110 but couldn’t get it stuffed like usual. 304 books.
Here’s what I got.

5 Assassin’s Creed books from various minis and ongoings.
7 Astro City books from various minis and ongoings.
Back to the Future 11, 16-19, 22-24. With research I discovered this series ended at 25, so I’m only missing 10 issues now.
Li’l Gotham 4, 7.
Black Canary 10. Finished the 1993 series.
Magdalena/Daredevil crossover oneshot from TopCow/Marvel
Doomsday.1 4. Might’ve already had this one.
Elektra 3-5. Finished the recent mini.
Executive Assistant Iris 4.
Fantastic Four Chronicles. One of the 5 FantaCo Marvel chronicle books from the early 80s. This would be unheard of today. Another publisher putting out Marvel comics? I have the X-Men and Daredevil issues. Need Avengers and Spider-Man.
Go-Bots 3. W. T. F.
JLA/The 99 6. Finally finished the mini.
A bunch of Lady Death random issues I was trying to stuff my box at the end.
Legenderry 5. Might’ve already had this issue, but a different cover. Not sure.
Legion of SuperHeroes 319, 321, 348.
Marvel Advs Spidey 12, 13.
Marvel Universe Ultimate Spidey 11.
Marvel Tales 197.
M.A.S.K. 3
Men of Wrath 2. Finished the mini.
Micronauts 3.
NextWave 7. Probably have 4 copies of this at this point. I can’t Not but NextWave when I see it.
Ninjak 16-18. From the original series.
Old Man Logan 12, 22.
Omega Men 6-8. From the 80s series.
Pantha 6.
Phoenix Resurrection 4,5.
Powers 5, 16. From the Image series.
Rom 1.
Siege Director’s Cut 1.
Star Wars 3, 9, 10, 18. From the second Dark Horse ongoing they started right before the license got yanked from them.
Star Wars;Knight Errant;Escape 5.
Supreme:Blue Rose 1-7. The complete mini.
Warlord 100.
Wizard:Superman guide.
X-Men Universe 12. Might’ve already had this one.
X-O 32, 35, 45, 46. From the relaunch series.

The rest was DC Nu52 and Rebirth. Finished All Star Western and Blackhawks from Nu52.
Made a sizable dent in the Aquaman, Cyborg, and Hellblazer Rebirth runs. And I’m about 4 issues away from having a complete run of Action Comics from 543 on.
Also found a bunch of books from Gerard Way’s “Young Animal” DC imprint. Cave Carson 1-12, Eternity Girl 1-4, Mother Panic 1-11, Shade 1-2. Not sure how long each series lasted, but I feel like that’s a solid chunk of the entire imprint. Time to research.

Some gems in there, but not one of my better hauls.
Next show is in October.

Holy shit. I know IDW publishes Star Wars Adventures (and, frankly, a lot of Marvel reprints that I'm not sure why Marvel doesn't do them themselves), but what does Boom do?

Boom does or did or still does have the Disney license and publishes like Uncle Scrooge, Chip and Dale, Mickey Mouse etc.
That’s probs what you thinking of. Because the timing was 1. purchase publishing comics giant(Marvel) 2. Get back biggest licensed IP (Star Wars)from Dark Horse and return it to Marvel. 3. License out your own Disney cartoon characters to C-list publishing company instead of Marvel.

Guys from Calgary drove a truck load of stuff to Regina for a one day sale. I got 5 trade paperbacks for $10 each (finished my Ex Machina set which is exciting because I've wanted to read the rest of it for some time now, Fables 3, The Nam vol 1 & Classic GI Joe volume 8 ). The big score was my door prize! Uncanny X-Men 138 & Doom Patrol #1, both in F/VF or thereabouts condition. Yay me.

Went to my nephew’s wedding in Des Moines this weekend. While there, didn’t pass up the opportunity to hit up some local comic shops. Hit four shops, but only got stuff at three of them.

First Shop; Rodman Comics in Ankeny, IA. Got 23 books out of the dollar bin, and got some new stuff I’d missed recently

Brave and the Bold 5,6. Recent mini series team up of Batman and Wonder Woman. Just need issue 2.
Cable 151, 154, 158. Still need 153, 157, 159.
Curse of Brimstone 1.
Immortal Men 1.
Legion 2, 3. From the newest mini. I think it was a 5 issue series, so I need the rest of them.
Mother Panic:Gotham A.D. 2-6. Just need issue 1.
Multiple Man 5. Still need issue 4 from the 2018 mini.
Mystik U 2, 3. Still need issue 1.
New Mutants:Dead Souls 6. Finished the recent mini.
Power Pack Day One 2.
Scarlet Witch 9. Finished the series.
Starfire 6. Just need issue 1 from the ‘15 series.
A couple True Believer issues.
Also got Batman 74, Flash 68, SW Galaxy’s End 3, TIE Fighter 3, and the Mark Brooks cover of House of X 1.

Second shop, Mayhem Comics in DesMoines.

Avengers Solo 3. Finished the mini.
Freedom Fighters 5. Still need 6 and 10 from the ‘10 series.
Ghost 10. From the ‘13 series.
GFT April Fool’s Day 2012 oneshot.
Iron Man 7 variant cover.
The Massive 18 and 28. Finished the series. Still need the follow up miniseries.
Night Nurse. Giant oneshot reprint from 2015.

Agents of SHIELD 2.
Fury of Firestorm 1. Finished the Nu52 series.
Batgirl and Red Hood Future’s End oneshots.
He-Man/MotU 6.
Infinite Crisis 7. Just need issue 11 from what I believe is a video game tie-in series

American Vampire:Lord of Nightmares 1. Finished the mini.
Batman Confidential 50. Only 2 more issues to find.
The Boys 32. Only 7 more issues to find.
Doomsday.1 3.
