Last few weeks:
The Punisher #57 - Frank won't use non-lethal tactics against soldiers, but it doesn't mean he won't beat the living shit outta 'em.
Serenity: Better Days #3 - Good conclusion to the second mini. Still ain't crazy about the artist.
Wolvergins #25 - The conclusion of this story granted this book a short stay of execution from the pull list. It wasn't amazing, but there are cool things in there. Plus, a Liefeld Bonus!
War is Hell #3 - More cool WWI goodness from Ennis.
Punisher War Journal #19 - The "Ultimate Jigsaw Story" plods along. Why do I keep doing this to myself?
Star Wars Legacy #24 - Still not great, but the story is very slowly picking up speed.
This Week:
Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men #1 - A really good conclusion to the Whedon/Cassaday era. Funny, sad, good action, and a few little surprises.
All-Star Superman #11 - Thank God, only one more to go!
Daredevil #107 - This book is such a damn downer, but its so damn good.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Lots this week, but they didn't get any copies of Kick-Ass 3... and somehow I managed to NOT get GS Astonishing. I knew there was something I didn't have.
King Size Hulk
Secret Invasion
ASM 560 & 561
DD 107
ASS 11
New Avengers 41
Uncanny 498
Thor 9
Capt. Am. 38
FF 557
Wolverine Origins 25
Mighty Avengers 14
Still need X-Men Legacy 212 as well.
EDITED: grabbed the 2 books I had missed. I hadn't been in 3 Wednesdays due to my trip so it was a big load.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Very light week this week.
The Punisher: Little Black Book - one of the better non-Ennis MAX Punisher stories, but it still felt like a Marvel Knights title, with some swearing and nudity.
And I think that is the problem with most of the MAX stories by other writers - they feel like the usual stories, just uncensored. I think they all use this formula: typical story + cussin' + nudity = MAX.
Ennis' stories differ not because of the cussin' and nudity, but because of the subject matter he addresses. Ennis - Sex slavers. Everyone else - drug dealers.
Also grabbed Secret Invasion #3 from last week - Nothing spectacular. The big fight was confusing as hell, as I have no idea who the newer cats were. The Iron Man thing could play out cool.
And since when is Nick Fury a white guy? I saw Iron Man and he was most definitely a badass black guy.* And did he go shopping at the Leifeld gun store?
*Yeah, it was a joke.

Yeah, I'm going to trash Secret Invasion #3 right now over in the Marvel U area. It sucked.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
made my first wednesday jaunt to the lcbs for the first time in i don't know how long... picked up
Hellboy: The Crooked Man 1
Fables 74
Astounding Wolf-man 7
Brit 7a
Brit 7b (yes, i double-dipped, but it's a variant "interlocking" cover for astounding wolf-man 5, invincible 50 and brit 7... plus the regular edition was drawn by ryan ottley, regular artist on invincible... how could i not???)
Savage Dragon 136
Amazing Spider-man 564
Avengers/Invaders 3
The Walking Dead 50
TWD 50 was freakin' awesome... i've read everything already aside from savage dragon and ASM (i need to catch up on ASM first... got three previous issues to read, due to not having picked up my previous lot of books in like 6 weeks or some such nonsense...)
next week starts the subscription era...

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
Keep us posted on that please, I'm really thinking I'd like to save more than 10% on my new books.
I found a new comic store at work and picked up 3 more books that I had missed:
Tbolts 121
Punisher 50
Kick Ass 3

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
well, first benefit: getting them four days early: http://www.wallcrawlersweb.com/database ... fullcover/jjreason wrote:Keep us posted on that please, I'm really thinking I'd like to save more than 10% on my new books.
now, this most likely won't pertain to everybody, as i live literally across the hudson river from the depot they're coming from - the return address is newburgh, ny. i could spit on it from here.
as for the condition: acceptable. the binding-side corner has a bit of a crinkle on the back cover and there's slight over-all waviness. that could be from how humid it is out today. i have faith that a little time in a mylar bag with a cardboard backing stuffed on a shelf between its likewise-stored brethren will straighten it out for the most part. i should receive amazing spider-man #565 tomorrow or the next day - that would still be early, as new comics are out on thursday this week due to the holiday. freakin' sweet!

How are the storage materials? Did you have to rebag/reboard? I wonder why they wouldn't ship all of your week's books together for sturdiness?

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
yes, definitely - it comes in the same kind of poly bag that porn mags and magazines that have enclosed cds/dvds and such come in. the only addition is a backing board that's just a bit more flimsy than usual ones that also has printing all over it (it's used as the address card as well as advertisement - it's got spidey on it, and part of it is an ad for the 36 issue ASM deal.) so, yes. needs to be rebagged/boarded.jjreason wrote:How are the storage materials? it would probably cost more to facilitate that - it's easier for them to individually bag them and mail them. it can be more automated that way.I wonder why they wouldn't ship all of your week's books together for sturdiness?

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
From last week:
The Boys #20 - Part two of the history of The Boys universe. Quite complex and detailed. yet damn good.
Punisher War Journal #21 - Part 3 of Jigsaw. Same old crap. After this Jigsaw story I'm done (unless the next next two issues are insanely good...but I don't see that happening).
Astonishing X-Men #25 - Last issue for me. This is not Astonishing X-Men. It's plain old X-Men. And it's boring as all hell. I really should've let the Giant Size Astonishing X-Men be the last one.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
I picked up:
War Is Hell #5 - decent end to a decent story.
and
The Punisher #59 - Nice to finally find out what was on the Rawlins tape. Damn, Ennis really had this planned out since Day 1, didn't he? I got a feeling next month's finale will be something special.

Re: So, What comics did you buy this week?
dind't have anything to buy this week, only two books on my list and they're both coming in the mail. however, they STILL HAVEN'T FUCKING ARRIVED!!!!! i'm kinda pissed about that.
i also ordered some hellboy/bprd books that i somehow missed on the initial release from an online comic store i hadn't heard about previously: http://www.demolitioncomics.com - just fyi, minimum order of $10 if you check it out and they've got stuff you want.
