Another “Con” down at the River Center. This one only cost $10 to get in, but like the last big con I went to a few weeks ago, there was only 4 tables in the entire place selling actual comics. One was selling older silver age stuff for $30-40 a book. One guy had three short boxes with almost entirely Walking Dead back issues and Venom variants. The third table had a selection of more recent stuff for $1-2 but didn’t have anything I wanted/needed.

So it came down to the last table. Had had a bunch of $1 books and some other stuff that was higher priced, but everything was marked 50% off. Since I had literally spent none of the money I intended to spend, I checked out the higher priced stuff he had. I only found 13 books, and spent $35 total. That’s like $2.70 a book. Even if you factor in the $10 entry fee it’s still like $3.50 a book. Here’s what I got.

Dark Knight Returns 4. The original issue.
Batman 118, 123, 124. Regular covers.
Daredevil 177, 184. Frank Miller issues.
Green Lantern 130, 150, 196. From the first run that ended in the 80s.
Magnus Robot Fighter 6.
Quantum and Woody 17.
Spectacular Spider-Man 33.
UltraForce 14.

On the way out, since I had hardly spent any money, I stopped by Bob Budainsky’s table and thanked him profusely for Transformers. Then I bought a signed print of Transformers 5(the one with Shockwave on the cover.)

All in all, less of a Big Score and more of a tiny score.

The next dealer show is at the end of July.

I just won an eBay auction for Batman:Shadow of the Bat 83. The first appearance of Helena Bertinelli as Batgirl. In the costume that would eventually be worn by Cassandra Cain.
It’s the final issue I needed to have a complete run of SotB. Nobody else bid on it, so I got it for $5+ shipping. Hooray!
