It's good, Chux. Sandman rocks ass. The "24 hours" issue that (I believe) would be found in the first TPB is STILL the most disturbing comic I've ever read. Yikers.

Lots this week 'cuz I ain't been getting there lately. Here's the list:

ASM 568, 569, 570, 571 (bringing my total of unread issues up to approximately 12 - this is TOO MUCH Spider-Man, even for me  )
Secret Invasion 6
Secret Invasion Inhumans 2
Cap 41
Uncanny 501
DD 110
X-Men Legacy 215
New Avengers 44
Mighty Avengers 17

i'm in williamsburg, va this week on vacation (sorry, KH - didn't even think to try to hook up with you until we got here, and i was with my in-laws, their son, and his wife... so it would've been absolutely impossible to do anything, even if you are anywhere near close-by...) so i had a bit of a hard time tracking down a worthwhile store - went to one yesterday that didn't even stock invincible! i was shocked! i was in a rush so i didn't have a list of the new releases, but ended up getting secret invasion #6 and atomic robo v.2 #1 there (last copy... it came out a month or so ago, and i'd been trying to grab a copy...) and hitting a (much larger, nicer, and more fully-stocked) store today where i picked up the rest.

Secret Invasion #6
Atomic Robo: Dogs of War #1
Invincible #52
Kick-Drum Comix #1
BPRD: The Warning #3
Ex Machina #38

I got 4 this week: All Star Supes 12, Uncanny 502, Amazing Spider-Man 18498 and Mighty Avengers 18.

I think I've missed Astonishing 27, and I KNOW I've missed Kick Ass 4. Piss.

Daredevil #111 - Lady Bullseye Part 1 - A bit of a fresh start after the long continuing storyline that started when Brubaker took over.
Lady Bullseye could be interesting. And I'm glad Brubaker didn't make her Bullseye's wife or daughter or something.
Not really sure how Black Tarantula got out of prison though, especially since he was part of the prison riot.

Star Wars Legacy #28 - Part of the big "Vector" crossover...ZZzzz...zzzz...

Wolvergins #28 - Logan decides to take his lame-ass kid to the X-Men for help. We also get a new take on Wolverine's first appearance in Hulk #180-1. Apparently Logan's involvement the whole Hulk fight was set up by the mysterious Romulus so Logan would get noticed by Xavier and get an invite to the X-Men. I think some of the fight/story was altered and expanded, but it has been a while since I read it. Also Logan wears the wrong uniform in the flashback.
And now that I see this is the start of a crossover that continues in X-Men: Original Sin #1 - I really think this is my exit.

All-Star Batman #10 - A fairly serious (and very wordy) issue that doesn't feel like the rest of the series so far (no "Goddamn Batman" moments). Still good though.

didn't receive my DD 111 or new avengers 45 in the mail yet, but picked these up at midtown:

hellboy: the crooked man #3
ambush bug: year none #3
fables #76
jack of fables #26 (they gotta split the month with these two, it's getting to be a chore to get them both at the same time...)
project superpowers #6
secret invasion: amazing spider-man #2
ultimates 3 #5 (why? no idea... i don't even know if i read the last issue...)
powers #30 (this book has been awesome from the very beginning at image. highly recommended)
immortal iron fist: orson randall and the death queen of california (i dropped the monthly, but i really like this incarnation of the character, really pulp/crazy 70's vibe to it...)
amazing spider-man #569b (yeah, jj... i grabbed it.)

Punisher War Journal #24 - Surprise surprise, Frank in SHIELD custody lasted a whole couple of pages, due to the Skrull Invasion. Frank has a field day killing Skrulls until his cohort shows up to kill him. Far better issue than last month. I'm only sticking with it now because Fraction is on his way out and it could get better.

The Boys #23 - The Boys begin investigating the G-Men (Ennis' version/parody of the X-Men) when they start going bat-shit crazy.

Magneto Testament #1 of 5 - This issue may be my pick of the year.
I picked it up after hearing a glowing review on Comic News Insider.
A very powerful start to the story that fully fleshes out Magneto's early years, including his family, ethnicity, religion, and his real name, which turns out to be Max Eisenhardt (With the exception of Astonishing X-Men I've read very little X-titles in years so I was still under the impression his name was Erik Lehnsherr).
The issue reads nothing like a story about a superpowered figure. In fact, anyone unfamiliar with the character wouldn't even notice Max/Magneto using his powers. It reads more like a fictional story about a Jewish boy set in Nazi Germany.
This is easily one of the best single issues of anything that I've read in quite a while (and off the top of my head, probably the best X-related comic I've ever read). If the rest of the series is this good then this is a series I will find myself reading over and over again for years to come.

Got an email from DeepDiscount today - they're having a Buy 2, Get 1 Free sale on Marvel Graphic Novels, until October 12.

Thought I'd give it a mention in case anyone was interested.

An abhorrent number of my books this week were $3.99.

Transformers Spotlight: Sideswipe
Stephen King's The Stand
Stephen King's Dark Tower
Obama
MacCain

This is a trend I do not approve of. The thng all these books had in common? Cardstock covers. I'll gladly forgo a fancy cover if it saves me a $1 publisher people.

Oh, I also got

Trinity
Green Lantern
Nova
Secret Invasion: Inhumans
Invincible Iron Man
Secret Six
"Say Jim! Whoo! That is a bad outfit! Whoooo!" -- Pimp, Superman The Movie
"You're an idiot, Starscream." -- Megatron, Transformers:The Movie

Fuck, I'd forgo glossy paper and the high-tech computer separations and printing if it saved me a dollar. Not to mention I'd be the first to welcome ads back. They screw up the flow of the story a little, but they don't impede it $1 worth.

Fuck the ads. Daredevil was pissing me off for a while. It had the typical 22 page story and damn near the same amount of ads. It was comic page, ad page, comic page, ad page, 2 comic pages, 2 ad pages, comic page, ad page. Fucking ridiculous.
