While being one of the better episodes to feature ASSoka (see what I did there?), the recent Clone Wars episode was a bit too heavy handed for me: A human bomb explodes inside the Jedi temple because there are those that oppose the war.
I'm surprised the bomb's name wasn't Al Que'eda.

So antiwar protests only came about in the last decade? I thought it was pretty good as a procedural crime drama - certainly better than similar ones they've done before. Showing public dissatisfaction with the war and the Jedi also helps explain why people were so quick to turn against the Jedi in ROTS. Apparently this arc (which finishes the season) is supposed to have some big-ass repercussions for Ahsoka. Color me intrigued.

No, but suicide bombers have gained prominence in the public conscience in recent years. And you can't deny the PT had some not so subtle political digs and war parallels.

There were definitely commentaries on war, but I don't think there were as many contemporary ones as people thought. The whole "Palpatine created the Clone Wars as a way to get more political power" couldn't possibly have been referencing 9/11 or the war in Iraq, at least in the beginning, since both of real-world events took place well after AOTC was scripted and shot (and in the Iraq case, well after it was released), and ROTS was just following its lead most of the time. The "If you're not with me, then you're my enemy" line is the most blatant contemporary real-world connection I can think of at the moment. George was drawing connections to things that repeated throughout history, and they just so happened to be repeating (depending on your political views, of course) as the movies were coming out, so people saw the connections and thought he was commenting on the present.

I guess I'm a little excited.

At the very end of the film, you see Jodo Kast's dumber cousin Robin Kast swipe Fett's armor and head off to Jabba's Palace. That explains everything.

Just saying, not only is that a remarkably short time frame, but we already have Shadows of the Empire (the comic and novel, which really were two different stories) and bits and pieces from Tales from Jabba's Palace to fill in Boba's story. Plus the Marvel comic that it already contradicted but was eventually decided to be canon anyway, and I think one of the bounty hunter comics is in that time, too.

Makes you wonder: why the fuck didn't Boba show up at Jabba's the next day with Han? SOTE explained everyone would be waiting for him to try to jump him, but, fuck, he had to fight them all anyway. And given that subsequent EU (and the ANH:SE) make it look like Boba is Jabba's bosom buddy, it wouldn't be smart to piss off Jabba by killing his lover.

There have been no official details about the stand alone flicks and Ford is not quite a done deal.

Here is literally we know about the films:
JJ Abrams is directing Episode VII, the first of three planned sequel films. Michael Arndt is writing the script based on the outlines by George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy. Abrams' production company Bad Robot is working on it, and Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are consulting. Disney wants to release the trilogy over six years starting in 2015, but Abrams and Kennedy said they can move the date back if need be.
There are two additional spinoff films planned right now. Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are each writing one.

That's IT. Literally everything else - including any characters, actors, and storylines - is complete speculation at this point.

With the latest episode of The Clone Wars, it appears that the Fuller Universe is actually more cohesive than the legit Expanded Universe.

It takes some chutzpah to completely invalidate books as unexpectedly awesome as the Medstar Duology.

But, hey, no matter what some dude on Lucasfilm's Disney's payroll says, the reader/viewer decides the canon. Johnny-Five didn't leave the Pacific Northwest, Bernie stayed buried, Indiana Jones has no son and doesn't fight aliens, and Connor McLeod isn't from another planet. And a cartoon that treats Darth Maul like Jean Grey doesn't trump years of books and comics that are better-written (and a few that are much more poorly-written, to be sure).

I just kinda feel saddened in a way. What was once almost obsessively connected is now a bigger mess than Star Trek. And, fuck, William Shatner was allowed to right Star Trek books that said Generations never happened; wrap your head around that shit.
