Favorites of 2007?

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Letters from Iwo Jima was only released in a limited number of theaters very late in '06 for the sole purpose of the Oscar hunt. I guess its a bit of a technicality.

Letters is another I have but haven't seen yet - and I'm a little embarrassed by that since I threw a hissy-fit when it didn't play around here theatrically.

But since I have the week off I plan to remedy that (along with a few others I've yet to watch).

Flags of Our Fathers I did see theatrically (and a few times on DVD). I personally loved it, but it got a lukewarm reception.

I've been meaning to watch Flags and Letters for a while now, and I actually have both films ripped to my hard drive (courtesy of Netflix), but I never got around to watching. I recently picked both films up on HD-DVD format, about a month ago, got them for like 8 bucks a piece, and I still have not watched them on that format either. Now that I think of it, guess I can delete it from my HD and free up about 16 gigs. Anyways, I'm really looking forward to watching both and they are two titles that I plan on squeezing in for the challenge.
"Once there were brook trout in the streams in the mountains. You could see them standing in the amber current where the white edges of their fins wimpled softly in the flow. They smelled of moss in your hand. Polished and muscular and torsional. On their backs were vermiculate patterns that were maps of the world in its becoming. Maps and mazes. Of a thing which could not be put back. Not be made right again. In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery."

Don't watch a lot of movies eh RII?

300 was snubbed at the Oscars, very upset with this one. Granted, I didn't expect it to get nominated for acting, or directing (even though I thought both were above average) but I thought it would at least get nods in Cinematography, Visual Effects, Sound, Sound Effects, Sound Effects Editing, Costume Design (or the lack there of), Adaptation (even though I didn't read the graphic novel) or SOMETHING! My point is, there are several categories where I thought 300 could have, and should have, atleast been nominated, even if it didn't end up winning. Just unbelievable... :frus:

Not really. Since 2000, I've seen ATOC, ROTS, and the 2nd Lord of the Rings movie in the theaters. We have HBO, which is where I saw Smokin' Aces last night, but I rarely watch the new movies. Typically, I can't just sit there and watch a DVD/movie/tv show. I usually am doing something else like surfin' the net, playing a game, or sorting through sports cards.

No, I'm pissed because Across the Universe is equivalent to taking a shit on George Harrison's corpse.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.
