Before he became a raging assbutt of an omniphobe, I though Mel Gibson would've made a great Hannibal Smith in A-Team.

Nothing Neeson has done in the last couple of years has done him any favors.

I'm guessing he's taking any shit job that's offered to keep his mind occupied in the wake of his wife's death. And making a ton of turd movies as a result.

Wasn't the one of the last ones he actually did before his wife died, even though it was released after?

Oh man I forgot his wife died. Hmmm. That still doesn't excuse him from The Phantom Dumbass though. Nothing can excuse the shitawful acting in that movie.

I tell ya what else I reckon will flop later this year, Brave. The Pdixsarney flick about a ginger kid fannying around the Scottish highlands with a fat arsed horse trying to prove that Gingers are normal. I'd lay dollars on it tanking.

Even less of a success will be Paranorman, but it'll be a way more enjoyable experience than Brave. Riffing on zombies is cool.

Tim Burton's Frankenweenie is likely only going to appeal to people who 'squee!' on message boards and blogs and regularly say Beetlejuice three times in a row actually hoping a lecherous dead man on class A drugs will suddenly appear and complete their sad dreary lives. Tim Burton movies suck. Everything since Sleepy hollow anyway.

Madaghastly III will be truly dire. The first one was not bad. The second was lame and now they're beating a dead Giraffe.

Ice age IV will similarly bore the bejesus out of audiences. I loved the first one. The second tied things up. The third dragged it into a hole literally and now there's more fucking prehistoric squirrel with an acorn and Ray Romano's tedious voice. Enough already!

I know technicallysome of these are fall movies but I thought I'd throw it all in one post. Ignore me at leisure.

Agreed of Burton and Frankenweeenie. When I saw the trailer I was like 'Wha? Who greenlit THAT?!?' I know it's a full length version of the short film that got him noticed 40 years ago and spring loaded his career, but who gives a crap now? And speaking of Burton, I bet WB saw Alice in Wonderland last year and thought Burton+Depp=$$$!!! But I'm thinking Dark Shadows vs Avengers isn't going to turn out as well as they like.

There is nothing about the Brave trailers that is getting me excited(except the soundtrack) but I think it will turn out to be another Pixar epic of greatness. I think it might be Mulan levels of actiony. At least, I hope it will.

The other animated shite you mentioned is shite. IceAge has Ray Romano. That alone should be sufficient for all prints of the film be burned. Ray Romano. I blame Sarah Palin.

Brave has Maggie Schroeder Thompson in it.

Enough for me.

All things should be Boardwalk Empire references.

I wonder, do you think Avengers will have the legs to overtake Dark Knight's all time Box Office. TDK had the benefit of being released in Late July and had basically a wide open August and Sept with no real competition. That's also a factor in why Avatar and Titanic are in the #1 and 2 spots. Released in Dec, nothing decent gets released until April or May the following year.
Whereas Avengers is up against the rest of the summer slate. Granted, it doesn't have anything serious for at least a month(MIB3, Prometheus, and ugh Battleship) but those films will still draw viewers and their $ away. Then it gets into July with Spidey and Batman. By then, it's take will have slowed considerably.
I think it's solid enough to surpass the two Star Wars films. It's reached $300M in only 8 days, and unlike shitty films like Avatar and Transformers, it's got good word of mouth and rewatchability.

In addition to Liam Neeson, Battleship has Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker. Not to mention the used of a Kid Rock song in the commercial. How can it fail?

Senor JabbaJohnL wrote:DKR will take the cake, no doubt in my mind. I'm looking forward to quite a few of these, and I barely saw any summer movies last year. 2011 was kind of a shitty year for a lot of things, I guess.
The success of The Avengers took me by surprise, as I wasn't really "looking forward" to it as much as I was DKR. The fact that it rocked my fucking cock right off helped immensely, I'm sure. Fuck, why haven't I seen it a second time yet? Anyway, now I really don't know whether that or DKR will come out on top.

As for the other movies on the list that are already out - I didn't see John Carter, even with nark's glowing reviews. I do want to, though.

I really enjoyed The Hunger Games, and read the book after seeing the movie. They're pretty similar in content (having the muttations look like the dead tributes would have been a bit silly in the movie, so I'm glad they cut it out), though the book focuses solely on Katniss as it's her perspective while the movie has a lot more of the announcers and the gamemakers (I was surprised that Seneca Crane didn't show up in the book at all, given that he was in the movie a hell of a lot).

Battleship just came out, like, 20 minutes ago. I'm gonna have to pass on that one.

I loved the first MIB, but the second one didn't leave any strong impressions either way. The new one looks disposable, but could be fun.

I'm interested in seeing Prometheus and GI Joe; they both look cool. I dunno if they'll get me to the theater, though.

Fuck Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Shit looks retarded.
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.
