What have you watched lately?

movies are cool. here is a place to talk about how cool they are. or maybe how much they suck, sometimes. like that fucking piece of shit 'mac and me'. worst fucking movie ever, a two-hour ad for fucking coca-cola.

Tom Foolery wrote:Lone Survivor. The story of a Navy SEAL op that went tits up and killed 20 of the Navy's Finest. I swear, I didn't even recognize Taylor Kitsch. He put on like 50 lbs of muscle. And not the "underwear model look at my abs" type muscle. Like the "my neck is now an oak tree" Navy Seal type muscle. Dude was fuckin' huge. The movie was fuckin' intense. How those guys were walking around after taking so many bullets and falling off TWO mountains is beyond me. Heroes, every damn one of 'em.

Go see this movie.
I was thinking about watching it tonight.

Watched half of The Wolf of Wall Street the other day and finished it last night.
Pretty damn good. It has a Goodfellas kind of feel, but you know, on Wall Street.
DiCaprio owns the flick and Jonah Hill is surprisingly good.
Some good nudity in there also.

I don't understand this statement. Is there bad nudity? Isn't nudity, by the definition of its very existence, "good"?

Frozen. Took the kids on MLK Day. It was fantastic. Disney has really hit a renassaince lately.

Also WM had a display with $3 DVDs on it. I got

AvP. Aliens vs Predator. Paul Anderson is my guilty pleasure director.

LXG. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I wanted to see how bad a movie could possibly be that drove both the director AND Sean Connery from the industry. Honestly, while not being great, I've seen plenty of shittier films. I was expecting the Hindenburg fucking the Titanic panda style levels of disaster, and it was an average film, so I kinda enjoyed its cornballishness.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Pretty cool reboot. I loved the tiny tiny subplot of the Spacecraft going missing as a nod to the original film.

You're using "reboot" incorrectly, like the media does. Rise is not a reboot. It's a sequel. While it does disregard and contradict some of the previously established backstory, that's been a PotA tradition going back to the original sequel.

So it's a sequel to the Marky Mark/Tim Burton film?

There was no cock, so yeah, there is good nudity.

Good could also be applied to pussy. Most female nudity these days is limited to tits and ass.

Kathy Bates doing a nude scene is considered "good"?

Marginally better than Jack Nicholson doing a full-frontal nude scene.

Cloudy with a chance of meatbals 2.

Well, ok, I didn't really watch all the movie. I listened to the fist two thirds because most of that I'd already seen in trailers and tv spots. I watched the last third. Not as much fun as it should have been. Colourful and some cute designs on the foodimals but such a thin plot. Even for a kids movie it just lacked any substance. Even the climactic sequence was unexciting. And on top of that the voice of the villain, SNL's Will Forte, grated so much I found myself squirming in my seat every time he spoke. Now I'm sure lots of kids loved it. The Tacodile and cute marshmallows and strawberries. The monkey and stuff... There has to be as many kids who felt cheated by the flimsy premise and pathetic plot. Left the theater wondering where the beef was.

Double post. sue me.

Clint Eastwood, James Garner and Donald Sutherland's bare asses in Space Cowboys [2000]. Now that is a sight that I will never burn from my mind's eye. No actor of that age should ever be seen naked in medium close shot. Not even for comedic purposes. That shit be nasty!

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs put me right to sleep in the theatre - literally a good hour of it I was out like a light. The kids enjoyed it. I don't think they ever saw part 2 however. \

Just watched GI Joe Retaliation on a flyer - much more suitable for Thomas than the first one was (or he's older, or a combination) and we both enjoyed it.... to the extent that it wasn't as bad I was imagining it could be. They did a fairly excellent job of capturing a "kids playing with action figures" feel for the battle scenes.

I watched The Road a few weeks back. It gave me a very The Walking Dead feel. I'd definitely watch it again.

We saw The Lego Movie today. My kids talked me into seeing it in 3D. Overall it was pretty good. It seemed to have some elements from The Matrix movies in it. Plenty of unexpected cameos.

I could have swore I saw a nod to Monty Python's Holy Grail in there, but it went by so fast, I'm not positive.
