I love a good deli sandwich...
I throw a french style roll or maybe a whole wheat bun in the microwave for about 25-30 seconds. Get it nice and warm and then slather it with mayo (or Miracle Whip...Miracle Whip lite actually)then layer on the honey smoked ham, provolone cheese, sliced turkey, colby-jack cheese, and some lettuce. Slice it diagonally and throw some sun chips on the side. Enjoy with your favorite beverage.
It hits the spot at lunchtime!

Vegetarianism. Is that a moral thing or a health thing? I can dig a health choice, even though I don't subscribe to that theory. Some people just don't think highly of the red meat...
But I can't stand them whiny buggers what complain about the horrible mistreatment of animals and such. Shut yer piehole I says!

Right, I'll get out the old speech.... ahem....
Y'see, it is a complicated thing, really... it IS a health thing, plus being allergic to dairy for the most part don't help.... the treatment of meat animals is pretty bad... free-range and antibiotic free I have no problems with... "economy"plays a pretty big role as well, since feeding so much good food to an inefficient cow just to make shit we'll end up breathing in and drinking seems kinda goofy...
Health wise, though, I've been vegetarian for 10 years and have felt great the whole time (almost... diet wasn't the problem).. a lot of the "requirements" set forth by the myriad agencies (dairy council, beef marketing bureau) and taught in school with "educational aids" so graciously supplied by the same, are pretty much ridiculous... protein, in the quantities you are supposed to be taking in, is actually poisonous and leads to liver/kindney problems, colon cancer and osteoporosis in women.... I know, it sounds nuts, and there's very little "out there" to corroborate my beliefs (not like anyone cares) but it's true....
So I guess it's a health thing, mebbe even a little religious, since I guess I would consider myself a sort of non-practicing tantric buddhist (or really practicing hard, depending on your views)
Okay, sorry, just wanted to post the deal.. if it makes ya feel better, the original reason for my decision was more due to the fact that I was poor and couldn't afford food that spoiled so easily

I was just busting on ya bro. I actually gave up red meat for about two years awhile back. All I would eat was chicken and turkey and tuna. Kinda gave up on it though. Needed some variety. It must suck being lactose intolerant. Cant you drink that lactaid crap?
BTW...do you eat a tofu turkey on thanksgiving?

I ate a tofurkey of sorts last x-mas... it was a tad dry, but it actually tasted pretty good... a friend made it herself, I wouldn't actually buy a pre-made one... I'm real sticky on what I eat as far as processing goes... I mean, snacks kinda don't count as much (Jedielf hates msg, but I think it tastes pretty sweet) but main course meals pretty much have to be made from scratch
KH I knew you were just talking smack to me, it's okay, I just felt compelled to address it once more...
Lactaid?? I dunno, milk was one of the worst things for my stomach... it's alright, I don't miss anything but cheese, really, and if I want it bad enough, I'll eat it... I just feel guilty a bit cos of the rennet...
Ironically, most Tofu is about as rough on my stomach as milk.... no idea why, but tofu is pretty hard on me... ironic, eh, a vegetarian allergic to tofu??

Yeahhhh....them sandwiches what require three slices of bread are AWESOME.
I don't much care for tomatoes 'less they are sliced reaaallll thin. A big thick of tomato just gets me all squirmy with the juice and the jelly stuff and the seeds. Blech.
And bacon. Sometimes its just too much effort to fry up bacon for a sandwich, but when I do, man is it good!!
Did you know lettuce has no nutritional value whatsoever? A friend of mine going to school for that sort of thing ( dietician or whatever) told me that.
