Adjusting the TV picture

Not a movie or a tv show, so it goes here.

Anyone know a good way to adjust your tv to the proper levels (picture, black level, tint, color, sharpness)?

The tv I have my PS2 hooked up to is an older set and no matter how much I mess with the levels there is always something off and having to mess with the levels for every game is beginning to piss me off.

IIRC, there are some DVDs that have a sort of picture optimizer you can use to properly set the levels (typically in the options menu), but for the life of me I can't remember what ones I own have that.

any criterion collection DVD's will have the color bars.

And naturally I don't think I have any Criterion DVDs.

But I did a search and it turns out all THX Certified DVDs have the video set up feature.
I popped in a Star Wars DVD, did the set up feature, and while it does look somewhat better, it still ain't all that great.
Unfortunately I think this tv is just too fucking old.

I don't know much about adjusting the TV picture, but I played "Tune in Tokyo" with your mother.

What do you mean black level? And what do you mean color?
