Vyn should go to Ross

I found a 2-pack of bitchin' Spider-Man pint glasses for $5.99. Not exactly a steal for pint glasses, but they're licensed, so it's not bad. The artwork is old school Romita Sr (I'm pretty sure) with the classic logo. They only had one, and there's no "collect them all" blurb, but the packaging also shows Silver Surfer (John Buscema?), Iron Man, Wolverine (99% sure it's Art Adams), Thing, and Hulk (Perlin?). The ones I didn't note artists on, I'm pretty sure are Romita Sr.

i got them at the 'comic cafe' in buffalo, when i visited my brother and sister-in-law. i paid a lot more than $5.99, though. and if they're not the ones below, then what and where is ross's?

That's them!

I wasn't sure if Ross was in NY or not. Guess not. It's a closeout store; a step (slightly) down from the Marshall's/TJ Maxx/Home Goods family or Big Lots, but up from Tuesday Morning, 99c Only, or Dollar Tree (or Family Dollars, if those piles of shit are still around). They've gotten a lot of toys lately, especially TRU exclusive Star Wars and GIJoe stuff that never sold at TRU's jacked-up prices. I've stocked up on extras of the Firefly vs GIJoe Troopers sets and some of the Senior Ranking Officers 3-packs at half the original price, to use as custom fodder. They've also been getting a pretty good number of AT-TE's at $40.

We got these because we're switching to the various pint glasses from bars and beer companies we've accumulated. A couple of Spidey glasses seemed a bit more kid-appropriate. Since you have them, do you know if these are the only ones, or if there are glasses for the other characters?

that's funny: we decided the same thing a few months ago, after most of our 'nice' glasses that we registered for broke on us. in fact, we replaced them a few times, until we visited jdr3 and his wife and found out they had the same glasses - and the same problem. we thought it was because we were hand-washing them. they thought it was because of the dishwasher. collectively we then realized it was because they were pieces of shit.

i seem to remember a few more of those two-packs, but can't really find any online. though, at the sites that i found those pics, there are quite a few singles:

Don't worry, man--I grabbed 'em. They'd not been there two days earlier, and there was one set, so I wasn't risking them selling. Those pint glasses are nearly indestructible. Not entirely, but nearly.

Not Ross, but WM has those $1-ish "party favor" plastic cups (which we've found to be the best "permanent" kids' cups, since they can get a variety of characters) in Christmas themes. Most were just PhotoShopped from earlier designs and looked shitty, but the Lego Vader & Stormtroopers with Christmas garland was pretty cool. (Haven't actually seen the "plain" Lego Star Wars cup.)

Modern glassware is shitty and cheaply made and breaks if you breathe on it. I ended up going to places like Goodwill and Salvation army and buying sturdy old glassware for super cheap. Yeah, none of my glassware matches, but at least I'll get more than one use out of it.

that's why we went back to true barware - it's specifically designed to hold up to the most drunken idiot use possible. i think underwriter laboratories has an entire wing devoted to drunken idiot use tests.

I think these I was talking about are intended to be disposable. They just happen to be better quality than most kids' cups, and cheap enough that it's no big deal if one does get jacked up.
