NASA to send R2 to ISS as permanent resident

i love NASA because they're a bunch of geeks. they've created a humanoid robot with general motors, named robonaut 2, and they've shortened the name to R2. it will be on STS-133, the second to last shuttle mission, which will deliver R2 to the international space station as a permanent resident! i wonder if he'll find himself floating home if he doesn't watch his mouth...

I remember the original Robonaut, shown in that link, which had the Boba Fett helmet.
NASA's always doing cool shit like this. A year or two ago they sent one of Luke's movie used lightsabers up into space.

He did trademark the word "droid," despite it being a shortened form of "android." Not quite Othniel Marsh levels of douchery, but pretty bad.

yeah, but the end result is that verizon has to mention it every time they promote their droid line of phones, and we got a R2-D2 version of the droid 2 to boot. anyone who sticks it to a cellphone company (and also made three awesome sci-fi movies) is okay in my book.

No, no, no, you've got it all wrong. He punched an old lady because her 3-year-old great-granddaughter called an Apatosaurus a Brontosaurus.
(On a serious note, his real-life douchery is the reason for the whole Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus bullshit.)
